"It's not your fault": Dolph's message to abused children

Postby Jox on 07 Apr 2009, 23:31

Swedish Aftonbladet apparently published a message from Dolph to abused children:
http://www.aftonbladet.se/wendela/barn/ ... 4843597.ab

"IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT

I know that it hurts, on the inside and the outside. Mostly on the inside.

I know that You cry a lot.

I know that You love your mom and dad and that you always will. They love You.

Sometimes adults also have big problems of their own. They might have been beat up when they were young.

What is most important is that You must always remember that it is not Your fault.

It is not Your fault.

Listen carefully:

IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT.

If You are in need of help You can always call this number:

0200-230 230 (till Bris) "Children's rights in society" .

I was beat up by my father when I was a little boy and I had no one to call, but I wish I had.

I fought and did not give up.

Whenever I work on a movie in the tough Hollywood climate, I get strength and inspiration from my experiences.

I now have my own children and I never beat them. I love them more than anything in the whole world.

Everything turned out well for me.

Everything will turn out well for You.

I promise.

A big bear hug.

/Dolph"

Wow!

That's actually a really brave thing to say. I know it's been public knowledge for some time that Big D had a horrible childhood; but for someone famous, especially one whose made their name by being the biggest, baddest SoB on the screen, to actually tell people about it - that's brave.

And it's the best way of trying to beat this terrible problem we have in all societies.

Kudos big guy.

What I really like about this letter is that it is written by a celebrity. It makes them more human and since they are role models for so many people, it is always nice for a change to see that they use their celebrity status for something good! The world is full of so called useless celebrities who get headlines by partying and doing drugs, crashing a car under the influence or whatever.

But what is most important is that this will shed a light on beat up children, and hopefully this can help save lives. Even if it saves one life, it is still someones life that's been saved! It is always good to see the positive responses that comes from the readers. "Very nice message Dolph *tears in my eyes*", " I hope a lot of children read this and embrace your words", "Big words by a big man", "Dolphan is a good guy. I've met people who have worked with him, and he always comes across as a good man". These are just some of the positive comments the article has brought.

Good work by Dolph to have the strength and passion to write something like this!

Dolph-lookalike Casper Van Dien also defends the cause:
