Optus challenged Edge to create an online campaign to convince customers of rival telcos to break their existing contracts and switch to Optus.

Edge’s concept asked Australians (via Twitter) what rules they would like to see broken. Then, as the responses rolled in, Edge created a series of personalised movies to bring these pet peeves to life. Sounds pretty boring – until you discover that Edge worked with action hero and all-round legend Dolph Lundgren!

All in all, 26 #YesDolph videos were shot and delivered via Twitter, using the social network to interact with consumers and deliver reach.

To amplify the campaign further, Edge used Optus’ influencers to generate buzz, and supporting content was pushed out on Optus’ Facebook and Instagram channels.

A Twitter reach of 222,000 and more than 70,000 views of #YesDolph videos was achieved. In addition, there were more than 900 Facebook and Twitter posts mentioning Dolph and Optus, including influencer engagement.

Dolph flexed his own social media muscle as well. Seven posts on his social media channels drove further engagement with the content, garnering 85,000 likes, 1600 shares and 900 comments.

Optus called the project one of its most successful social campaigns of 2014, with 81 per cent positive sentiment expressed.
Probably a bit BS since it's self-publicity.

Postby Jox on 08 Jan 2016, 11:36

It's been while National Geographic tries to do some stuff with Dolph:

It's Dolph Lundgren's Turn to Make a Comedic Comeback in an Ad And he's brainier than you think, says NatGeo

Every now and then you look up from what you're doing and you kinda can't believe that you're actually doing it. Shooting this new season launch spot for Brain Games on the National Geographic Channel with Dolph Lundgren was pretty much like that the entire time. Huge thanks to Juniper Jones for collaborating with us on an awesome pitch and bringing the spot to life. Thanks as well to every executive along the way who had the opportunity to say no to the idea and decided not to. This was a fun one.

“From the beginning, casting Dolph Lundgren to promote 'Brain Games’ seemed like such a smart and unexpected way to promote the show,” said Nat Geo SVP/Group Creative Director Andy Baker. “Part of what makes 'Brain Games’ such a fun project is that we’re always trying to find new ways to get a viewer’s attention – so going in a comedic direction was something really exciting for the whole team, both for Nat Geo and Juniper Jones.”

Nat Geo immediately brought their creative minds to the project with Creative Director Tyler Korba scripting a spot premised on Dolph as prisoner, trapped inside his own body and strength. Although his IQ is 160, he can’t function as a smart man because his overly powerful body keeps getting in the way. Fortunately, Brain Games provides him with the perfect outlet.

With Nat Geo and Juniper Jones working hand-in-hand to bring the Dolph Lundgren project to fruition, they only needed to get one more thing to actually make the spot: Dolph! Fortunately, after reading preliminary scripts, Dolph jumped at the chance to go toe-to-toe with his own image.

“I think what drew everybody involved to the concept and this type of spot was the potential for shareability,” said Juniper Jones Creative Director Kevin Robinson. “When you have a big star like Dolph playing along with the joke, it can generate a lot of buzz.”

The resulting spot is a clever, fresh, and most importantly, memorable promotional spot for Brain Games. The popular series premieres its fifth season on February 14th.
