Dolph in a new Marvel movie?

Postby Craigie-Boy on 28 Sep 2005, 22:15

Everyone on this site and their dog knows that Dolph's name was attached to a Venom film years ago, but how about this - since Venom is reportedly tipped for the next Spider-Man film, howsabout getting Dolph to play him? He looks like Eddie Brock does, is suitably well-built and obviously doesn't need too much in the way of combat training, so we could get some great fight scenes. Okay, I don't imagine that Brock is quite as old as Dolph, but since when did something as trivial as a person's age or nationality stop Hollywood?

On a related note, if the proposed Wolverine film focuses (as it probably should) on his incarceration at the Weapon X project, does anyone else think that Dolph would make for a great Omega Red? Omega is a Russian mutant and the first Soviet supersoldier, and he has a helluva grudge against Wolverine, for those who don't know. The only sticking point I can think of is that Dolph isn't 6'11" and 425lbs, but then, who is?

Such a role could be just what it takes to put the D-man back where he belongs - on the big screen. Or should he just stay away from the comic book industry? The petition to get Dolph Lundgren back on the silver screen starts here!!
Thoughts please.

Though it's not official, the Eddie Brock role in the next SPIDER-MAN film has been given to Topher Grace, who I would guess will end up as Venom if not in the next movie then in a 4th film.

The Omega Red idea would be a good fit. Supposedly (everything is speculation with these comic movies) that character will have a small role in the next X-MEN movie in which he'll be part of a huge fight scene involving Wolverine and others. I could see them using Omega Red here and then perhaps giving him a bigger role in the WOLVERINE spin-off movie. Lundgren would do well with this part, it's exactly the type of role that he should be doing. I just hope the people who cast the film feel that way. He'd certainly be better than some of the other X-MEN villains so far (Taylor Mane, Ray Park).

Woah!!! Then I'd be extremely happy!!! My favourite comic character, Venom, just acted by my favourite actor Dolph... GREAT (if this is going to be true one day...). Putting Carnage in there, too... plz... ^^
In hope for someone who could replace the real Dolph one day if he's (hopefully not as soon) out of business...

Crap.
Omega Red has already been confirmed as one of the new characters to appear in X-Men 3 next summer. Don't remember the name of the actor who was cast as him, but I think we can safely assume he won't portray the character quite as well as Dolph probably could, even though most of the actors in the previous movies played their parts very well, especially Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman.
Ah well. Coulda been something great... :(

Have a guess who could be acting as "Juggernaut"... I think nobody is ever in shape to do this job. Maybe Colin Farell is the new Carnage then.

I see. Never heard anything about him though... seems to be a football player. Maybe Jay Cuttler could try as Venom either.

Was just thinking about how Dolph should go for the Omega Red role again, and I got to thinking...the producers are never going to even consider him - unless we make them. He's too out of the general public eye at the moment, and the role is almost guaranteed to go to either an unknown, or another actor who doesn't resemble Omega at all. Maybe if we all get in contact with Fox (who own the rights to the X-movies), we can at least get them to consider him...
What I'm saying is, we need to bombard Fox with emails, letters, etc, and let them know how much sense it would make to cast Lundgren in the role. At the very least, they could get him along to do a screen test and take it from there. Go to www.fox.com and get an email address for them and just keep pestering them. There are 217 members on this site if memory serves - if we all get together, we can make our voices heard. And if the worst comes to the worst and Dolph misses out...well, we can at least say we tried, and think of what could have been.
The Wolverine movie hasn't even begun casting yet, so there's plenty of time to get to work. We can do this.
Feedback?

It's a nice idea but the part has already been cast and filmed for the 3rd X-MEN film. It went to an unknown by the name of Vince Murdocco. It will probably be a small part as the film is loaded with villains. I suppose if the character works it might show up again in the WOLVERINE movie.

It's too bad because small role or not Lundgren would have been perfect.
