What do you guys think of this book title idea I just came with?

THE PUNISHER: THE UNCUT, UNDERGROUND STORY OF AN 80s CULT CLASSIC
(or just "UNCUT" or "UNDERGROUND" STORY)

The "underground" choice of word also refers to the sewers lair of this Frank Castle... ;)

Out of those options I prefer "THE PUNISHER: THE UNCUT STORY OF AN 80'S CULT CLASSIC"

I PUNISH THE GUILTY: THE MAKING OF THE PUNISHER. UNCUT AND UNAUTHORIZED

Thanks! I like your suggestion, I had thought of a title idea starting with "PUNISHING THE GUILTY: _______" as well.

The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that there are now two other Punisher movies plus a TV series, so I kind of have to differentiate it from them...
I'm not sure putting PUNISHER 1989 looks very good on a title, and "original", "first", or "Dolph Lundgren's PUNISHER" I'm not sure either so... I'm still not sure.

As far as I know none of them has said I Punish the Guilty as memorable as Dolph, but I do see your point. I don't think 1989 would look good either

Adding Dolph's name does look a little clunky... but I still think that's the best option.

THE PUNISHER: THE UNCUT STORY OF DOLPH LUNDGREN'S 80'S CULT CLASSIC

THE PUNISHER: THE UNCUT STORY OF DOLPH LUNDGREN'S CULT CLASSIC

THE PUNISHER: THE UNCUT AND UNAUTHORIZED STORY OF THE 80'S CULT CLASSIC

I PUNISH THE GUILTY: THE MAKING OF THE PUNISHER STARRING DOLPH LUNDGREN.

I PUNISH THE GUILTY: THE UNCUT STORY OF DOLPH LUNDGREN'S 80'S CULT CLASSIC

I PUNISH THE GUILTY: THE UNCUT STORY OF DOLPH LUNDGREN'S CULT CLASSIC

Personally I like starting the title with a quote from the movie...

I like those as well.

How about...?

I PUNISH THE GUILTY: THE UNCUT STORY OF DOLPH LUNDGREN'S
    P U N I S H E R

Also, do you prefer the use of the term STORY or HISTORY?
History would be more appropriate regarding the approach, depth and tone of the book, but it's longer and may seem too serious to some folks, I don't know...

Call me crazy, but I actually prefer all of these titles much more:

THE PUNISHER: THE UNCUT STORY OF DOLPH LUNDGREN'S 80'S CULT CLASSIC

THE PUNISHER: THE UNCUT STORY OF DOLPH LUNDGREN'S CULT CLASSIC

THE PUNISHER: THE UNCUT AND UNAUTHORIZED STORY OF THE 80'S CULT CLASSIC

Simple is sometimes much better. But that's just my own opinion...

Of course not! ;)

For sure!
If that was just me, I wouldn't mind it being just THE PUNISHER: BEHIND THE SCENES, or THE MAKING OF 'THE PUNISHER'...

The reason I'm toying with the idea of not having "THE PUNISHER" upfront is to avoid further risks that Marvel would make a fuss because that such use of their trademark name would confuse their comics fan base with their own official products...

I think HISTORY would be appropriate and more fitting.

That's fine and dandy, but what was the first one? Raw Deal (1986)?
