Segal was a great heavy in ARMY. Exactly the sort of vile performance the film needed.

I always felt he was a little too cartoonish in the role of crooked cop, Severance. Would have rather seen this character played a different way. Even still though, Segal truly was a legend with an impressive CV over the years. He’ll be missed.

Maybe it was slightly cartoonish, but it was a very uncanny touch to have a respected actor of his generation play opposite Dolph (rather than the usual big guy). The casting of the supporting characters was definitely paying homage to a certain era with (other than Segal) the faces of Geoffrey Lewis, Bert Remsen, Michelle Phillips, or even Ken Foree...

Yes, his character and his way of playing it never seemed out of place to me.
