The official French version is the version with the alternate ending in the footage.

I don't know yet, but probably not in HD... Because we can't find an HD master or the 35mm materials needed in order to make one. That's said both cuts may appear on the disc, just one in HD and one in SD...
That's sad, I think the extended cut (and it's "unhappy" ending) is the stronger one.

Unrelated, here's a blog post that writer Steven Pressfield just pointed out to me, based on his JOSHUA TREE experience and working with second unit director Andy Armstrong:

Pre-ordered the BluRay (not the VHS box, money's a bit tight  ). I hope that you'll manage to be in the bonus features Jox :D

We shot two interviews yesterday, one on the genesis and making of the film, and the other on DL. (Sadly we were rushed for time so I don't know how it's gonna turn out...)

Despite some difficulties the two interviews I did turned out pretty good in the editing, we just finished them and everybody seem very pleased with them. :)

It seems the upcoming French edition will be the most complete and action-packed with extras (the US ones + the brand new ones).

When you think that back in the day it made very little at the box office (between 70,000 and 120,000 admission tickets sold nationwide)...

I've got the U.S. blu but may have to track this one down for the new extras.

FYI my featurettes are in French, but there's also a new Dolph interview which should be in English with subtitles.

And both cuts of the film shall be included but one in HD and the other in SD both (including English sound tracks of course)...
