When I saw the Carolco or Orion logo I knew I was going to get a great movie. Who would ever forget the fantastic credits of Total Recall? That music? Ah...
RIght, Carolco was the epitomy of uber-violent 90's action flicks. Comic-book style action flicks at their best... whatever happened to Carolco?

SHOWGIRLS and CUTTHROAT ISLAND happened... oh and I think they made bad investments as well, anyway they were spending way too much money and T2 and BASIC INSTINCT weren't enough...

Shit, it seems they did make a few errors during their later years, one flop and misguided experiment after another. I see Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna kept reasonably busy though, their names always appeared on Carolco's movies, I noticed that when I was like 15 and collecting all the cult action movies...they done the Basic Instinct and Terminator sequels..although I guess the less said about them the better...

evegotbet, why the gratuitous insult of Jean-Claude Van Damme? There are a lot of Van Damme fans on here, you can dislike the guy but if you have to publicly make a criticism, do it in a more mature, justified and structured manner. Or don't complain if your posts are edited.
I remember renting that game back in the day and being so let down, because it had absolutely nothing in common with the film. In fact I'm pretty sure it was a whole different game entirely, but they marketed it as Universal Soldier to sell it.

Spot on, Tom. The Unisol game is actually a title called Turrican, an old 16-bit game that was basically unaltered for the Unisol licence, with only the title screen and character sprite changed. If you notice that Deveraux's legs look a bit rickety, it's because the original Turrican character was a stylised robot. Indeed, there is no plot relation to the film, and some of it makes so very little sense - One of the original bosses was a very impressive screen-high robot, that is again simply overlaid with a new graphic... so imagine an utterly unexplainabe sixty ft tall Dolph bouncing round the side of the screen. Sound stupid? Wait until you see it...

Ha that's why I always felt cheated by those games which reassembled nothing like the movies they were supposed to be derived from!
