Ivan Drago wrote:Here are a few more actors who used to carry movies and now have more than a handful of direct-to-DVD titles under their belt:

Christian Slater
Harvey Keitel
Ray Liotta
Ron Perlman
Lou Diamond Phillips

Of those names, maybe Keitel could bring credibility to Skin Trade.

Or... how about Bruce Campbell? :D

If it was up to me, I''d vote Keitel, Liotta, Perlman or Campbell. In fact, get them all! :D

J: You’ve previously stated that you’re developing a project titled ‘Skin Trade’ in which you would play a secondary role and direct. Is this still in the pipeline?

DL: Yes very much so. I’m trying to put that together and I’m talking to a couple of actors right now. I hope to get that together this year. I’m doing a couple of new movies over the next few months here, smaller roles as I said, and then there is ‘The Expendables 2’ which is coming up. In between all that I’m trying to work in ‘Skin Trade’. I would be playing a supporting role and directing, sort of throwing the ‘big job’ [Leading Role] on somebody else.

After that, ‘Skin Trade’ or ‘Expendables 2′.

I wish Seagal was in it, would be something special to see them both in the same film together.

I guess I'm biased because I enjoy his films, including those from recent years - although, I will admit just as quickly as anyone else, that there have been more poor quality than good amongst those.

Anyway, "Black Rain" is one of my favorite films, so something in that vein would be interesting.

Also, possibly filming in Sydney? What I would do to be an extra on that. Then I will wake up from my dream haha.

Thanks for the informative thread. Sounds promising all the same.

That's a good idea. Jane is a great actor (one of the few good things in The Punisher for me) and he has done some great flicks (Boogie Nights, The Mist, Scott Pilgrim ...). Would be a good "dolph" nemesis !

That's a great idea Dragonrage!

Dolph may want somebody who look less like him maybe (Jane could almost pass for his brother, just like Daniel Craig who would also be great opposite Dolph)?

Daniel Craig would be a good idea. I don't think he's perfect as James Bond but I loved Layer Cake. He's a brilliant actor. Maybe too good for Dolph? 8)

SKIN TRADE is still in the pipeline, like I said before its production depends on when THE EXPENDABLES 2 is happening, so it could be either before or after.

What can you tell me about 'Skin Trade'? Is that another one that you are writing and directing?

Yeah, that's a story that I came up with about five or six years ago... or maybe more. About human trafficking. Something I'm developing right now - I'd like to play the second lead and get somebody else to play the lead to get a little bit of a bigger budget. It's kind of a, it's like a Michael Mann movie where it's about some men who are mirror images of each other in some ways with the dark and the light and the good and the bad, that kind of thing. The plot is about human trafficking, where one guy... who is a cop who gets his family -- is hurt and damaged by some bad guys and they happen to be from Russia. And the other guy is kind of a mirror image and he's from Russia and he's already going through a lot of things that the American cop ends up going through in the first act of the picture - then they kind of end up joining forces in the second and third act. So I thought I would play the Russian - and I'll find an American actor for the other role. Try to get it done either this Fall or if I end up in The Expendables sequel then it will be next year.

Glad it's still a project he's working toward. Sounds like it would be a good fit for him, both as actor and director. Still seems like it won't happen until after E2 at the earliest.

Jox, what happened to this? I was looking forward to this based on the premise and Dolph's decision to try for a bigger co-star. Is he still pursuing this? Skin Trade and Wanted Man seem to have been on the back-burner for the last 2-3 years now.

Yes SKIN TRADE is still a go-project (as well as WANTED MAN) but obviously not a priority while Dolph is keeping busy focusing on "acting roles" for now (and I'm guessing until THE EXPENDABLES 2 is released). I hope he has moved on and doesn't have big scars left from the disappointments and frustrations on ICARUS, and that when he gets back to directing it's for a new beginning.
