Not sure how much of that I believe as truth, specially seeing as it goes against anything we've heard bout Dolph before. He also said the director was Canadian, when he's Romanian. Plus, no movie company would ever hire a stunt man like that. Seem's strange. The guy did say Dolph was okay most days though.

If it is true though, it sounds to me like this was a pretty poor production. I hope not. Plus could this guy have expected anything less. His first proper gig, a bit part role. He's probably not a trained actor in any shape or form, yet he tried to write his own dialogue to a certain extent. No wonder Dolph was pretty annoyed at this guy. Dolph did the film as a favour to Dotan and the guys at moonstone, as we know, but it sounds to me that to save money, a lot of amatuers were involved in this. I'd guess that it turned into the type of film experience Dolph has been trying to move away from, and thus a little frustration crept in. It was after all quite a surprise DL did this film, because at the time he was developing the modern Western we were all expecting, and thus following on he started MM after DD. I'd guess he used a window of opportunity and time, to do DD.

Got to say the movie has gone down in my expectation a little. And it would seem to confirm, if this is indeed true, that Dolph definitely wasn't the director.

Well I'm not sure what kind of movie to expect at all but I hope that Dolph has an interesting character and the direction and actors are not shoddy.
I so wish we could just get a few more screenshots on the internet or an update of some sort on the movie's release.

You know from my own "on set" experience, the way a production is handled doesn't mean a thing about how the final movie will turn out. I worked on some really well run productions but then the film was a disappointment and the reverse...

As for this guy I would be pissed myself because I know, as director or a even more as a script supervisor myself, it can be really disturbing and annoying when actors make up their own lines without permission, he was just trying to show off and get his share of the pie...

As for DD, well first, writer Leo St Pierre recently said to me even though he hasn't seen the picture yet that he heard great things about it and that the producers were really pleased.

Second I just finished reading an early version of the script, and really I think it should kick some ass! It might not be the greatest film, but it should be at least a fun action adventure film. First the setting and scenery should be great and add some production value, then Ronson is written like "Dolph meets Harison Ford as Indiana Jones and Han Solo" and has some great punchlines (his relationship with the female lead also builds up in a cool way), and then I thought the plot is really well written with some cool twists... I'm really looking forward to it now!

PS Tom: actually Dotan was born in Romania but he's living in Canada...

Good point Jox. We need only look at every film Terry Gilliam has ever done to realise dodgy productions don't always make bad movies. I have a sneaking feeling that by the time we watch this film, this fella David Williams will stick out like a big piece of wood in a bucket of cheese. I bet he's awful.

I just found out the music score is by a certain Larry Cohen (not the director) and given his credentials you could be scared of the result, but it actually doesn't sound bad at all, you can hear tracks on his website here: http://www.crimeinc.com/

Doesn't sound bad. I like that it's going for something a little different and very percussiony and rhythmic during the action. It's not trying to mimick a full orchestra on a synth which a lot of B-movies do. Nothing sounds worse then the electric clones of proper instruments trying to be all Howard Shore. This seems to embrace the synth. Though I don't think it's nearly as interesting as Adam Norden's Defender score, or Elia Cmiral in Mechanik. I've still got a few to listen to though.

I´m forced to agree with Jox (though it goes against fibre of my being) on the critique against that bitpart actor who tried to bash the old Dolphmeister just then.
If you read between the lines this guy is an a-hole trying to steal lines and hog the spotlight. Any actor or director working with a guy like that would loose their fckng minds with that guy wasting film on improvising and messing around with the script especially on a low budget production where every second and dollar counts. He´s lucky Dolph didn´t fire him (=kill him) and that all he got was some harsh language sent his way.
And it is also true that there is no way to determine the outcome of the production based on the "organized chaos" taking place wile shooting. We´ve just got to keep or fingers crossed and hope for the best.
Because, as Jox often says: "Dolph fckng Lundgren fckng rules!".
And I agree with that too.

according to the composer, changes were still being made recently so it probably was just finished...

Some of the score's pretty good, but some grates a little because it's a bit too cheappy synthesizer trying not to be. When it's low key it works, but when it gets beyond a certain point it doesn't. That's where I think Norden and Cmiral did perfect scores for their respective Dolph films, that they kept it very background, and never went for sounds that tend to clang when done through a Synth rather than real instrument. For me brass and woodwind on synth never quite works. The more persussion, pulsating tune work well.

Thematically and musically it's good, just some of the synth sounds aren't great. A problem with many low budget movies. What I do like though is that it's gone for something quite different than the norm.

well he says himself he got into film scoring by chance and doesn't have much experience in that field... apparently he was pretty much left alone to do the DD music so he was free creatively but only had a few weeks to do it...

here's a preview of the German DVD cover
