WOW EXCELLENT FIND!

How come "Rocky IV" is Dolph's most famous film, a blockbuster of its time, a studio picture, a cult movie, and yet there isn't any proper special features for the Rocky sequels?! (except for the "opponents" featurette from last year's first film latest edition...) MGM released box sets anthologies at least 3 or 4 times now, cheap bas$@!...

It is like Dolph is doing a Borat impression in the Drago teaser.

The problem here, though, is that I believe none of the sequels other than Balboa spawned any sort of additional material at the time, meaning that any potential special editions will consist almost entirely of all-new footage. Sure, Rocky IV had the teaser trailer of Drago, though that seems to be in terrible conditon - but there must be a decent copy of it somewhere. We have a few music videos for Rocky III and IV, but that's about it.
I'd like to see a commentary for each film, with as many of the primary names as possible (Stallone, Shire, Young, Weathers, Mr. T, Lundgren, etc), the trailer, photo galleries, cast/crew bios, new interviews, and so on. Perhaps Stallone could include the scripts for each film, something you rarely see on DVDs these days. The chances of arranging an interview with Mr. T are slim, but it would make a great addition to Rocky III.
I'm not asking for special editions on a par with the Rocky I Definitive Edition, but something similar to the Balboa disc would be fine. Bring them on!

Sly on Dolph in ROCKY IV

Postby Mosquito on 20 Mar 2008, 00:16

Here, Sly calls Dolph "the hardest hitter" in the Rocky series (at about 1:30 in the video):

Yeah I just wish the interviewer would have picked up on it and we could have heard a bit more about DL´s punching power.

Sorry to bring up an older topic, but I was reading a recent interview with Sly in which he stated that the hardest hitter of the Rocky series was in fact Tommy Morrison. Dolph was the one who actually put Sly in hospital due to their fighting for real in some scenes, but Morrison apparently slugged a guy on the set so hard that he broke half the guy's face and knocked out two of his teeth. Because the guy had been doing some advertising for a brand of toothpaste or something, he sued the studio for $20 million...
