Good news on this one is Sony isn't the sole distributor so:
1) it can come out in other territories first
2) features and extras can differ

I also hope Dolph will take some time out and do a little bit of promotion for this one, because it looks good.

Wait to find out if it's really good first. Also I'm not sure Dolph will want or even have time to promote this one.

Oh, that sounds a bit ominous, we haven't got another Diamond Dogs on our hands, have we?

Not at all! (just for the fact that filming conditions were really good and the shoot was very smooth and friendly)

I'm just not sure he's as committed to this one, it was just an acting gig he did for fun (or to have CP financed, I'm wondering?). And with the post on CP, UniSol III, and Icarus he'll have the hands full beginning of 2009 so DC might not be a priority. But hey don't worry I'm just rambling! (although we could wonder if there's a reason for Sony not to release DC ASAP?)

No Jox I totally agree, there are bigger fish to fry as they say but I think that Direct Contact could be used to drum up interest for his next movie. What did you mean when you indicated there might be a reason for them holding back? I'm still hoping that we see Command Performance get something along the lines of a festival tour or a couple of screens ala Missionary Man. Sony would be a bit daft not to make a big deal of CP...I mean the premise is just totally priceless, it must be the most kick-ass thing I've ever heard...really this could be the coolest movie of 2009. I know it'd be ridiculous but I actually think CP would do okay if they were just to jam it in 1000 theatres...I mean the bad guy of Rocky IV as an ass-kicking biker-drummer-ex-ass-kicking-biker-kicker-ass kicking ass during a hostage situation. Sounds like something Tarantino would come up with.

I don't know, it's been completed since June/July (has been rated R), I guess it just seems distributors have not given it priority for a release date yet...

They're all probably going to wait to see how CP or the Expendables turn out... bastards...

Kinowelt announces DIRECT CONTACT to be available on DVD and Blu-Ray in Germany next April for rental (May for retail).

Kinowelt usually ensures image and sound quality, as well as for extras (both DIRECT ACTION and THE MECHANIK featured making of, photo gallery, trailer, production notes)

German title might be "No Contact"?

Yay. It's definitely about time!

@Jox: Yes - the article is saying, that the movie will probably be called 'No Contact' (How I always love it when they translate english titles with new english titles for germany ).

It´s already super confusing! Direct Action/Direct Contact...

I´d rather they called it FULL contact than NO contact. Then at least it has some martial arts connection as opposed to a pacifistic kind of vibe (No Contact).

How about they call it Skin Contact..

On a side note, I'd like to see a sequel to Direct Action... :)
