As a product of the 80's as well I love one-liners as much as you guys... but they were poorly executed in EX2. It was cringe inducing to a point where it felt like they just ran out of story so they were forced to shoe horn them in. One-liners are supposed to compliment scenes or set pieces not detract from them.
It got to the point where I thought I was watching a parody ala Hot Shots I & II rather than a semi-serious love letter to 80's actioners like EX1 was.
