:o I don't think I even watched the interview. I was too busy watching the footage at the side. Dolph smashing someone over the head with a guitar and then stabbing him with it. That is awesome. It's just as perfect looking as it should have been. Wow! I cannot wait for a full trailer. All those explosions and police cars. It looks like probably his most expensive self-directed feature. :D

Awesome video!
Did anyone else notice the sign in the bottom of the screen reading "coming to THEATERS in 2009".
Probably just BS typed in there by someone who does not know better...
Or could it be true???

The host-guy actually says "opens in theaters in 2009" at the end of the interview... could it be?

As far as I know there is still a lot of negotiations going on regarding distribution and therefore no confirmation sign of any theater release yet. I think they probably didn't know better or are not used to do promotion for DTV releases. Hopefully fate will play in favor of a theater release of some kind (in the US, limited in one or a couple of major cities would be safe at first).

It certainly is a movie that I think people will WANT to see if they hear about the premise, how tonuge-in-cheek it is and how BAD ASS Dolph's character will be.

Also I heard this looks much better on the big screen, especially the concert I'm sure (or it's like watching Titanic or Lord of The Rings on your TV, better than nothing but really have to experience it on the silver screen).

I think this is the type of movie where many people would go out and see in theaters becaues it's different, i mean when did u watch a movie where terrorrists take over a concert and the drummer of the band is the one who is going to do the rescuing.

And where have you seen a movie where Dolph "Ivan Drago, He-Man, The Punisher" Lundgren stabs someone with a guitar neck? It doesn't happen. With a brilliantly crafted and tongue-in-cheek trailer this COULD look like the must-see movie of the year.

Cool videos of him playing the drums. He's not holding back at all.

Looking good!! This long corridor in the military base, I take it this was a set that was built? Apart from the concert hall and the exteriors, are all the sets built? I understand that sets are built because it's generally very difficult and expensive to find any other interior building to do the shot that not only completely suits the film but also that they can find permission to film in. :)

I don't think there is a general rule, it depends of your movie, what you want/need, where the film is shot (location prices differ), the budget etc. So sometimes it can be cheaper and more convenient to build a set (which can mean from building an entire house to just putting flats together for an interior scene on a soundstage) or to shoot on location. The decision can also be based on the way it's supposed to be shot (a POV from the ceiling in a small room will be easier to do on a set). All you saw here (not a military base) was shot in the Sofia National Palace of Culture which is a big cultural/convention center (as well as all the concert and about half of the movie including exteriors etc). But before I got there they had previously been filming in Boyana studios for about two weeks...

Thanks Jox. I can see why many big blockbusters have such large budgets because it's not only the special effects but the sets or whatever that have to be built. And movies like Quantum of Solace that use a variety of sets and exteriors even for a foot chase will be very expensive. For example, chase along the roofs (exterior) jump through a window on the roof into the building below (interior). It would all have to fit together. I'm rambling now but I guess I never thought about this logically before.
