PTS PRESENTS PRODUCER’S NOTES WITH EVZEN KOLAR
https://podcastingthemsoftly.com/2016/0 ... zen-kolar/
Podcasting Them Softly is incredibly proud to be joined with veteran producer Evzen Kolar whose credits include STREET SMART, the epic Cannon Film’s MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, DOUBLE IMPACT, SURF NINJAS, and a film that was made to be a featured film on Pocasting Them Softly, the 1997 hardnosed neo noir CITY OF INDUSTRY. Evzen also produced the soundtrack that is a must own for any cinephile soundtrack junkie! Before becoming a producer, Evzen worked as an assistant director, a unit manager on NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN, and he has also done some stunt work. Unknown to us prior, Evzen is married to Robert Shaw’s daughter, and we spend a fair amount of time talking about Robert Shaw!

New MOTU book that will tackle the film to be published early 2017 from McFarland:
How He-Man Mastered the Universe

In a world of movie tie-ins and “cinematic universes,” it’s easy to forget that the transmedia trend began with He-Man. From his creation in 1982, the blond, sci-fi barbarian battled his way across toy store shelves, the pages of comic books, the pixels of video games, multiple animated series, and even a Hollywood movie. Along the way, he changed the way we were entertained: the beloved cartoon “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” was the first animated series based on an action figure, and the 1987’s cult classic “Masters of the Universe” (starring Dolph Lundgren and future Academy Award nominee Frank Langella) was the first time a toy became a live-action feature film. But this new ground was not broken easily. He-Man faced adversaries more dangerous than Skeletor: entertainment lawyers, shady Hollywood executives, and even the Reagan administration.

This sly and scholarly book breaks down the history of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, from the characters’ contentious creation to their big screen breakthrough and beyond. The heroes and villains of Eternia did more than shape the childhoods of the toy-buying public, they also introduced the modern landscape of entertainment.

Jackie Chan, Anne Coates, Lynn Stalmaster, Frederick Wiseman to Receive Governors Awards
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Board of Governors will present Honorary Awards to actor Jackie Chan, film editor Anne V. Coates, casting director Lynn Stalmaster, and documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman.

Of the four, Coates is the only one who’s ever been nominated for an Oscar, with her win for the 1962 “Lawrence of Arabia” plus four other noms. She is still working, as one of the editors of “50 Shades of Grey” last year. Wiseman’s latest doc is 2015’s “In Jackson Heights” and Chan works non-stop. The award to Stalmaster is significant because the Academy created a membership branch for casting directors only a few years ago, but so far there is no competitive trophy for the job, which is so important to filmmaking.

Coates, whose career spans six decades, won her first Oscar for “Lawrence of Arabia.” She also nabbed Academy Award nominations for “Becket,” “The Elephant Man,” “In the Line of Fire,” and “Out of Sight.” In addition to David Lean, she’s also worked with Sidney Lumet (“Murder on the Orient Express”), Richard Attenborough (“Chaplin”), and Steven Soderbergh (“Erin Brockovich”).

EDIT:
Gwildor included in a newspaper story that's now reprinted in the upcoming book He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Newspaper Comic Strips
https://www.amazon.fr/He-Man-Masters-Un ... rds=he-man
For over four years, Masters of the Universe had its own newspaper comic strip! This story continued the tales from the Filmation cartoon bridged the saga to the space-themed New Adventures of He-Man cartoon relaunch. The comic strip only ran in selected newspapers and was never reprinted, so most fans have never read it... until now! For the first time ever Dark Horse brings you a collection of these strips, restored and ready for you to unleash the Power!
