Hopefully it won't be too long before they announce the composer. I'm hoping for someone decent.

I don't know who was ultimately hired but the few names I've heard being considered were all more than decent (and from theatrical films, not DTV) so I also hope for the best in a genre that really fits the piece...

An Elia Cmiral would be fine by me (his score for The Mechanik was great), but I think wants some freshness and a "bigger" name and that's also fine :) (a Clint Mansell kinda name ^^)

That would be too awesome, although I don't know if his style exactly fits ST and moreover I have the feeling he's the kind who demands a lot of money (like Michael Nyman and the likes)...

Looks like Dolph has really been putting on some more muscle mass, which is definitely evident in pics from this and EX3. Not saying he has ever appeared out of shape, but he seems to be really hitting the gym for these roles. Good for him. Give 'ol Sly and company a run for their money...

My favourite current composer is Ramin Djawadi. I think he'd be feasible.

One thing for sure is he knows how to get the shape he needs, put on or take off some muscles where he needs, and learned over the years what works and what doesn't. He probably wouldn't have gotten the role of Drago if he didn't manage to put on about 30 pounds of muscles when Sly asked him to (the first time they met), and he had to consult nutritionists and fitness specialists and go through trial and error.

Hummm, interesting I had to look up IMDB to see what he's done, and I must say I haven't seen anything he's scored (no I've never seen PRISON BREAK or GAME OR THRONE, let alone IRON MAN or PACIFIC RIM!). Isn't it too big for a dark thriller like SKIN TRADE? I mean for instance putting Brian Tyler's music on it would be so wrong...

Well, for the last two features you quote, it's good but easily forgetteable (too much guitare in the score for me). It's sad they're not well known because we've got some good composers in France (besides Alexandre Desplat) : François Eudes Chaffiot or Seppuku Paradigm (in the vein of Tomandandy).

Actually, he's gotten a little bigger in fame recently, now that you mention it. But I figure if he's willing to score The Strain, he'd score something the scale of Skin Trade.

What about the guys who did the recent Universal Soldier movies? They're very grimy, low key scores.

I meant in terms of sounding as a big rather orchestral-like score.

Love them, US3 because it's has a cool 80s synth vibe to it (reminiscent of Tangerine Dream and John Carpenter) and US4 since it gives so much weight to the atmospherical/experimental vibe of the piece. So I wouldn't mind Michael Krassner & co taking over ST.

Ah. That would be highly inappropriate.

My bad, it's François EUdes Chanffault (and not Chaffiot). He did the score for Vinyan (great one IMO) and Inside.

Here is a more detailed plot/synopsis (with minor spoilers if you don't want to know anything before you see the film):
New Jersey detective, Nick Cassidy (Dolph Lundgren) heads to Bangkok where he teams up with Thai detective, Tony Vitayakui (Tony Jaa) to hunt down Viktor Dragovic (Ron Perlman) and destroy his human trafficking network. Nick had inadvertently killed Dragovic's son in a sting operation on the New Jersey docks, and Dragovic responded by attempting to kill Nick and his family. Nick miraculously survived the brutal attack, but his wife and daughter were killed. With nothing but vengeance to live for, Nick and Tony traverse their way through the Bangkok underworld in search of the elusive Dragovic. Meanwhile, FBI Agent Eddie Reed (Michael Jai White) is sent in to bring Nick home. But as the crossfire ensues, Nick has to determine who his true allies are.

Any chance we'll be seeing a new trailer with dialogue included anytime soon ?
