I think the best way to market this is to push Jaa as the next Jet Li/J. Chan import... at least for here in the usa. Martial arts are a pretty big deal nowadays with mma still going strong.

Wonder if A MAN WILL RISE will ever see the light of day. Did it even finish filming?

Regarding the release, I'm assuming it'll be a limited theatrical run. I imagine it'll be available as a VOD as well?

Their site is updated weirdly, they keep articles as they appeared during production. This is the same article that appeared a while ago but the update is at the bottom:
BREAKING NEWS: According to DH (via Jox), Skintrade will get a limited theatrical release on May 8th through Magnolia Pictures. - See more at: http://www.cityonfire.com/dolph-lundgre ... Pg7e7.dpuf

Yes, I'm pretty sure A MAN WILL RISE has finished filming but it's being held up (which also happened with Jaa's PROTECTOR 2 by the way).

And yes this will be a limited (and probably symbolic) theatrical run of course. Magnolia seems accustomed to releasing their films on VOD sometimes even before the theatres so it probably will be the case as well.

I'm afraid a lot of people will be disappointed when they realize this is not a martial arts film or a pure Tony Jaa vehicle (he might be the co-star and sidekick, Dolph's character is the one that drives the story).

Found that on Filmcombat Syndicate.
At least now, that seems to have changed as we may now guarantee ourselves a North American limited theatrical release currently set for May 8, 2015 (according to Box Office Mojo), preceeded by a premium VOD release on April 23 and a premiere at the Egyptian Theatre on May 3.

No source on the last two dates though.

Film Combat Syndicate were in touch with the co-producer during production so that's probably where the info is from.

Exclusive: Magnet Releasing Acquires Action Thriller 'Skin Trade'
http://www.indiewire.com/article/exclus ... e-20150220
(it's been done a while ago though)

Action cinema icons Dolph Lundgren and Tony Jaa team up for the first time.

Magnet Releasing has acquired U.S. rights to "Skin Trade," directed by Ekachai Uekrongtham and written by Dolph Lundgren and Steven Elder.

The film also stars Lundgren as Nick Cassidy, a detective investigating a human trafficking network run by a Serbian Gangster, played by Ron Perlman. When his family is murdered, Nick must follow the trail to Southeast Asia and join forces with a formidable Thai detective (Tony Jaa), to get revenge and destroy the syndicate.

The film also stars Michael Jai White ("The Dark Knight"), Celina Jade ("Arrow") and Peter Weller ("Star Trek Into Darkness"). This is the first pairing of Lundgren and Jaa, two of the most iconic actors in action cinema.

"Skin Trade" will make its premiere on demand everywhere on April 23, with a May 8 theatrical release to follow.

Both are verified, they seem to share the same fans but I think just like the Expendables pages, only the US based users will see the updates of the Magnolia page unless they go to the page on purpose.

Yeah but it's the first being released so it doesn't matter to most people and for promotion.

I kind of like that poster. It looks a lot better than the vast majority of his recent DTV posters. This and the War Pigs poster look good.

I'm not a big fan, especially with that title treatment, but then again I'm not tuned with what works with mainstream audiences nowadays.
