Rourke back is good.
And an idea akin to The Raid could be good if handled well.
Plus it seems like Chan and Snipes are all but signed. That's great to hear.

Glad to see Mickey Rourke back.

Probably a good career move for him, since his big comeback didn't really last too long.

I watched the director Patrick Hughe's short film Signs, and I loved it.

I hope that Sly and the producers give him at least some creative control. I want great characters and writing for this one, the action will be solid no matter what, but a good script is essential.

Is it already confirmed that Dolph will be in EX3? It seems he is very busy this year...

The chances of Sly cutting him out of the show are zero to none and Dolph is unlikely to want to turn down TE3 for another week-long bit part.

No it's not confirmed and probably won't be until the last minute. And yes he's very busy so it's gonna be tricky to work it around his schedule...

Don't think anyone picked up on this, just noticed it from a few weeks ago.
We may possibly see Christopher Lambert in Exp 3, which would be great.

Because he is a bit of an odd choice. I know I am in the minority but I have never seen Highlander or actually seen Christopher Lambert but he doesn't strike me as the kind of icon that would be in TE3, especially not as a villain - I think they'd go for someone more unhinged like Travolta or Snipes. Honestly you could make TE movies for the next ten years and probably never use all of the people considered as action heroes more than once. But people like Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson aren't action heroes - they just happen to have their biggest and most well known movies in that genre - people like Seagal who only make action movie (although lately this is disputable) are action heroes. Even Clint is more in line with an action hero, despite making dramas and comedies. What I'm saying is that they should probably stick to action heroes (aside from Mickey in a non-action role) and just make sure whoever gets the lead villain gives a good performance. It is a fine line between has-been, too far gone into oblivion/anonymity and actually a reasonably recognisable name. Where Lambert comes in I am not too sure.

Well in the early/mid-nineties he was definitely considered one of these guys, from FORTRESS to GUNMEN and MORTAL KOMBAT and many others, not mention he dared working with Albert Pyun... twice.

Actually the French trade magazine Le Film Français (or was it a more "gossip-ish" one? Anyway I read it somewhere back then) reported that Lambert and Dolph had lunch together at the Cannes festival 1996 edition.

Lambert kind of has a big cult following because of largely Highlander, but a few of his other films too. He would be an odd fit in this film, but all I can say is that the man has popped up randomly in a few mainstream films in recent years like Ghost Rider 2 and Southland Tales. Plus I guess as there's that mutual respect there between he and Sly, we may see him appear. Plus when Lambert's really into it, he's a great actor. I could seeing him being a really good part of the villain team.

I just read something similar that also speculates on Jovovich's role...

At this point, I'm wondering what kind of a story can possibly fit all of these actors. Some of the original EX team is going to have be phased out for anyone else to have a somewhat decent role...

Showbiz411 claims to have the scoop that Mel Gibson would be a the main villain in EX3 but they can't quote a clear source so this is just "hear say" until it's confirmed or not.

5 days ago, Jackie Chan did a Q&A at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences where he said (at 41 mins) he'd really like to work with Stallone but only the two of them on a buddy movie, that there's too many people on EXPENDABLES, but that does it mean he won't do it? We'll see, but it confirms that really NOBODY IS SIGNED YET.
