Arrow in teb Head podcast review... with minor SPOILERS...
Dolph is Ammon Gilbert's favorite character. I think he'll win people over again, the crazy yet likable Gunnar!

Quad version of the poster in the UK (where it's just been rated 15 for "strong bloody violence" with no cuts made)

Sounds like Dolph steals the show again!

Although from the review it sounds like them changing it to rated R was just an attempt to cover the fact it's still a pg-13 schlockfest thanks to stupid Chuck Norris being involved.

So basically they've made the same mistakes as the first one. Well done guys. How many old school action heroes does it take to fuck up a movie?...Well just one apparently. I'm not one to speak out against a movie I haven't seen, especially if it's TE2, usually I won't hear a word against it. But it's pretty clear what happened here, there's been so much backtracking and bullshitting it's obvious that they changed their mind following the fan uproar. If they can't do real blood in TE2, there's no hope for anyone haha. I'm not sure if it was indeed Chuck's fault, but he seems to be good in the movie. It does seem like they can't get this quite right, but I'll reserve my real thoughts until I see it. Sometimes I think they just tried to put too many people in it and can't justify it with meaty enough roles.

On vandammefan there is a poster who links to a review from one of the peeps who saw the film at camp pendleton who said it was a blast... it seems this reviewer was expecting it to be less hammy... when in fact a lot of people were complaining the first film wasn't tongue n' cheek enough.

I think the conclusion is you can't please all of the people all the time

I like a balance. Look at the original Die Hard - it was gritty, violence and tongue-in-cheek. The first had the tone pretty good for me, it just needed more one liners. I like to believe the heroes are really in danger.

Yea but the first Die Hard also had a decent treatment... you know a script is bad when Stallone has to re-write literally a few months before they actually shoot the film. Stallone isn't exactly the most gifted of scribes... so it doesn't shock me he tried to go all out with the humor... I'm sure he paid a lot of attention to people who thought the first movie was too serious...

That is one of sly's faults and at the same time a good thing that he sometimes cares a bit too much what his audience thinks/wants. I do agree with you though that it sounds like he still didn't get the balance right for the second film... although I kinda think the guy who reviewed this is a bit of a weirdo so I don't take everything he says word for word.
