This is a fake. I think I remember it being made for a TV magazine that provided custom covers for movies when they aired on TV, sometimes they used the theatrical poster and sometimes they made one up like this one...

Warner Home Video France used the same artwork as everywhere else when it came out DTV (first direct to video release for a Lundgren title here, a few months after Warner also unleashed Seagal's OUT FOR JUSTICE to home video).

Anyway it is cool poster ! I saw it only in France...I think Warner is one of few companies who didn't use many posters on their VHS covers ! Single cover for every release, like in Seagal Warner Collection - all the same. Back VHS cover feature just 1-2 stills, very "greedy" in additions what a pity ...International VHS artwork for Silt looks much cooler

For ex this Israel VHS release...

Indeed, I wish I'd get a copy of the Israeli tape (I find the price on eBay a bit unreasonable).

As for the second one which seems to come from Poland, you made my day by posting one that I never came across before!

Yes 100 $ for old Israel VHS copy way too much...

I have many VHS covers for SILT from all over the world ! And most of them are designed better than official Warner release... Piracy back in '90 s was huge - beautiful covers and poor quality of image and sound - that how it was, especially in ex USSR countries after 1991

One more VHS cover for u

I really hope that MVD Rewind Collection will start to release a collector's edition of some Dolph's cult classic movies, especially Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991).

The things they are doing for Van Damme fans is amazing, especially with Double Impact (1991), a rival movie of SILT released the same month of August 1991. Special features are just awesome, no words - 2 hours documentary of DI, trailers, behind the , scenes, 54 minutes of deleted/extended scenes.

Jox I really want SILT to get such a treat..

By the way on new MVD Double Impact Collector's Edition u can watch Tia Carrere audition footage in DI. She didn't get the role but was such a pleasure to see it ...
I was wondering if she would take that role, who could play the role of Minako instead in SILT...

Yes, MVD or Shout Factory since they started to release some Warner titles (unthinkable just a few years ago).

Cool, did not know that but not surprised either!

Actually she could have been in both because DI was done filming a month or two before SILT rolled cameras
But if not her, I would have appreciated a less model-looking, more candid or down to earth actress to play the role.

Yes Jox, Tia Carrere could star in both of them - Double Impact (filming period November 4 - December 30 1990) and Showdown in Little Tokyo (January 14 - March 8 1991).

If not her in role of Minako then- Joan Chen, again Charlotte Lewis or maybe erotic model Suzee Pai who played Miao Yin in Big Trouble in Little China (1986) :D ! They were the top female asian faces in american cinema at that time...

I thought about Joan Chen as well, she would have been fine.

Although none of those actress have Japanese descent (which is kind of like casting me as a Swede, Italian, or Polish character! )

There weren't too many Americano-Japanese actresses back then (even now but that was worse), in prominent Hollywood roles I mean, because I'm sure many were in LA trying to breakthrough.

Tamlyn Tomita (THE KARATE KID II, COME SEE THE PARADISE, THE JOY LUCK CLUB, THE GOOD DOCTOR) could have been great, as well as even PUNISHER's Kim Miyori who is only 6 years older than Dolph (and not 10 years younger).

I was wondering did someone already restored the unrated shots for SILT Unrated version as some companies did for The Punisher (1989) ? Those 19-20 seconds are very welcomed...

I even noticed some longer (i don't know if they are unrated shot frames) shots in its theatrical trailer. The shot of the guy who gets punched by Kenner in the face before entering in the Bansai Club gate is much longer in the trailer. In the released version it is cut short followed by another "far" angle. Another changes featured in the trailer is the Murata's leg punch on the "mustache" guy before jumping on the table . In this trailer they use front angle which is right to me, in the released version they show it from it's back (back angle) -nonsense to me, or it was MPAA request change...

Basically my issue is that they used very many angles showing action from the back and not from the front because of the violent content or some especially during Brewery Factory in the end (they just show this yaks are falling down from the back with no graphic violence from the front) Or that bulb light blowing up for three times from three different angles that don't even match during Saving Minako scene at the house - nonsense to me again (like Van Damme used to do in his early movies one leg punch from ten angles). I hate Warner, MPAA, Stuart Baird and Co for that. To my feeling originally editing and movie entirely was closer to Dark Angel (1990) type taking in consideration it was shot by the same Mark Irwin, or Commando directed by the same Mark L Lester. But Warner wanted a Steven Seagal movie again and chopped it so badly that Lester hated it because it looks unprofessional work...

Not as far as I know...

It was one of those trailers that are edited before the movie is completed, and given how SHOWDOWN suffered from its several re-editing that's even less surprising (and I don't think it has anything to do with the MPAA, just the studio and their re-editors). You can also see some footage from Kenner's training that's not in the final cut with Dolph performing what I recognise is a Kyokushin kata (see at 00:38 below).

Yes JOX I noticed those extra training shots in the trailer too !!! Originally the training scene was in the beginning after the underground box match and another deleted scene featuring Kenner, Nelson and Yosuto refusing to be Dolph's partner in the future. Also this training scene included flashback scenes with Kenner's parents murder like in Passenger 57 (1992) starring Wesley Snipes- Kenner trains much harder and angry with this flashbacks in his mind. But studio replaced this scene before final showdown wanting to bring Murata earlier in the movie and to make it more a buddy type cop movie.
Another coincidence is that putting training scene at the end of the movie reminds me another martial arts oriented movie releases in March of 1991 "The Perfect Weapon" starring Jeff Speakman. As said before trailer logo for SILT is the sames tyle like the Perfect Weapon...
