Never saw this particular pic before.

From the robe on his shoulders it suggests that this is an on-set photo rather than a formal costumed portrait.
Dolph is seen wearing that robe (or one very like it) in the shots taken of him with Richard 'Pigboy' Szponder.

I think it was printed once as a thumbnail in one of the HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE magazines.

Dolph has always talked about how cold it was on those shooting nights...

Ah, yes - now that you mention it I seem to remember that magazine thumbnail pic. It was very small.

And - indeed - Dolph has often spoken of just how cold it was shooting at night-time in October while wearing the He-Man costume. No wonder he needed that robe!

In his new book "A PRODUCER'S LIFE", producer Howard Kazanjian (THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, RETURN OF THE JEDI, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK) included a pre-production photo of him reviewing concept art for MASTERS with Gary Goddard and the too often forgotten "real" producer of the film, Ed Pressman (CONAN THE BARBARIAN, THE CROW etc).

Kazanjian was temporarily set to co-produce MASTERS for a few months before RKO and Warner dropped out the project...

EDIT:
Frank Langella, Washington Post, June 1987
https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/ ... mes-afoot/
This summer, however, he returns to the screen in "Masters of the Universe," an epic inspired by a series of Mattel Toys. He plays the arch-villain Skeletor under 40 pounds of prosthetic makeup that suggests what Frank Langella might look like if his face were composed entirely of bones. It was, he thought before accepting the role, a terrific opportunity either to make a complete fool of himself or to create a titanic character on the scale of German opera.

"I think I went pretty far with it," he says.

Frank Langella, New York Times, August 1987
On the screen, he is currently featured as the archvillain Skeletor in the movie ''Masters of the Universe'' - ''a birthday present for my son,'' he says.

Please sign the fan petition below asking Kevin Smith to consider creating more episodes in MOTU REVELATIONS featuring BLADE and give me the opportunity to voice the fan beloved character I created for the feature film.

Please sign and share the petition to Kevin Smith to have BLADE return voiced by Anthony De Longis
"It was my great pleasure and privilege to create and play BLADE the Double Swordsman, a brand new character in the HE-MAN UNIVERSE. The feature film MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE is one of the highlights of my long and diverse professional career. Director Gary Goddard offered me this unique opportunity and I did my best to bring depth and diversity to my part of Skeletor's 'Curious Quartet.’ I hope Kevin Smith will consider inviting BLADE to become a bigger part of his Eternian world view. BLADE has great character potential and could make for a wonderful multi-layered entity in this brave new He-Man world. It would be wonderful to have the chance to voice the BLADE character that I originated and I have an extensive background in Voice work in addition to my other skills as Actor, Fight Coordinator and Weapons Expert."

On the subject of Christmas movies, MOTU is what I personally consider to be one.

Obviously, it is not set during Christmas but it was released for Christmas in Europe, and that's the kind of fantasy movies we would usually get for the season, which makes more sense to me than to make them summer "blockbusters" as in the US because Christmas has magic and fantasy written all over. It's no surprise that years later in 2001 both HAPPY POTTER and THE LORD OF THE RINGS came out for the holidays.
