I have a new colleague at work. We got to talk about cinema pretty fast, and we came to b movies, action movies and horror flicks. Told him that I'm a fan of the D-man. and he told me ... "of course. Me too. i even have a MOTU poster in one of my room". 8)

The label announced they acquired the rights to release a vinyl edition, which shall come out later this year... (it will be the 3rd vinyl after the original 1987 Varèse Sarabande and Colosseum LP editions)

I bought me a copy of their CD release earlier this week. $20 and free shipping. On a related note, I also snagged the Red Scorpion CD as well.

Good deal! Those two soundtracks made me anxious for 10 years (didn't even know if they ever existed or not) until I found them... back in my early days of renting VHS I would record tapes for the scores (therefore the sound FX and some of the dialogues as well)!

I am building a score collection of my favorite Action Heroes, currently Schwarzenegger is in the lead. Just need 6 more scores and I will have them all.

Still really sore that I missed out on picking up the Punisher (89) score, didn't have a job at the time and couldn't justify the price.

I was initially hesitant to pick up the MOTU Note For Note release, as I initially thought it was a bootleg label, but some brief investigation erased my concern. Especially Discogs website, they don't permit any sales of bootlegs in their marketplace.

I think chronologically speaking, Universal Soldier is the next readily available score. have to take a look at the discography you compiled. Which is an awesome resource for me, thank you for the time effort you put into it.

Great! Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it.

I've always loved film scores and particularly in the case of Dolph's films they contributed to grow my appreciation of his movies in the first years, the fact the soundtracks were hard to find or did not exist (THE PUNISHER, DARK ANGEL) made them even more precious.

It's also useful to me to know that my resources are helpful and appreciated because on some topics there aren't a lot of reactions so it can make me doubt if this is all worth it.

Feel free to ask if you have any question on the releases out there.

I may have questions later, but right now I am busy searching for deals on his soundtracks. The most expensive one by far, has been Showdown in Little Tokyo, nothing else comes close. That's gonna take a lot of searching to find a price I'm comfortable with.

This site and the info here-in, is awesome.

Thanks!

The SILT soundtrack has always been on of the hardest to get and as SILENT TRIGGER it must have been a very limited release of 500 or 1,000 I guess. The label "Nouveau Records" has not put out anything else as far as I know, at least not under this name.

Concept Artist WILLIAM STOUT Goes Inside His MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Film Work As Action Figures Are Finally Made

Excerpt:
Nrama: What took so long for these to come out? Was it a matter of Mattel not wanting new Skeletor and He-Man designs in their own toyline, or something else?

Stout: Mattel was desperate to revive the MOTU toy line. They were still pretty lazy, though, when it came to the sculpting and production of their action figures. Our new designs demanded that the body parts could not be interchangeable in any way. We, the designers on the film, banded together to demand that we get royalties from the characters and other aspects of the film that we designed. That huge fight, we won, may have caused some delay.

Nrama: Do you know if Super7 is at least sending you a set of the figures?

Stout: I would hope so! I believe it's in my contract with them. We should do some public signings to promote the figures.

Nrama: For those that have the Dark Horse MOTU art book, there's a lot of concept art by a multitude of artists, including Ralph McQuarrie and even Moebius, but...

Stout: Yes, but not by me. I still have nearly all of my MOTU art - over 100 pieces. I keep the art I produce on every film that I work on. I offered to let my art be used in the MOTU art book - but Mattel told me that if my work was to be in the book, I’d have to relinquish my copyrights to the work - for free!

That’s why my art is not in the book.
