'I Come in Peace' is on Cinemax this month, in HD!

One of Dolph Lundgren's best flicks, arguably his best, is on Cinemax this month. Thanks to "jnericsonx", on the film's IMDB board, for the heads up. Got it set to record in HD next week. If you have Cinemax, seek it out. I think it's on CinemaxHD on the 24th. Tons of well-executed action, great score by Jan Hammer, great chemistry between Dolph and Brian Benben. Just surprisingly solid all around. Now's the time to burn a copy to DVD.

Cool action flick from Craig Baxley, the director of "Action Jackson" and "Stone Cold".

The Reaction

The crowd loquaciously devoured every last chunk of awesome served up by the antics on screen. I guess it didn't hurt that the movie was filmed just a few hours away in Houston. There are some truly painful missteps throughout the film that perfectly allowed for side-splitting hilarity. The 1980's was a glorious cesspool of crappy cinema and, though the audience is composed of folks that are first and foremost horror geeks, you don't attend Terror Tuesday unless you are a fan of schlock-tastic films of all varieties. As I said, I Come in Peace is not entirely devoid of horror elements so it still works very well. By the time Lundgren vocally punched the bad guy with that final pun, the audience response was nothing short of tribal. It was one of the best times I have ever had at a Terror Tuesday event.

What is the holdup that's preventing a DVD release?? Who owns the rights?? I owned an old VHS copy that was released by Media Entertainment. I imagine they've long since been out of business, but I also remember the old VHS tapes of the Nightmare on Elm Street sequels being produced by Media; they've all since found a home on DVD... I've since seen a foreign copy that has the MGM logo at the very top of the box art... Perhaps they have some of the rights (or Sony would since they bought out MGM).

There are proven fans waiting for this flick to get its due... Even if it is a bare bones disc...

By now there are several releases around the world. Just check the Net and get one. ;) And, if you don't own a region code free player: now's a good time!

Was just flipping around when it started up on HBO. Oddly enough it's the Paramount logo that showed up before the credits started. Guess they have the North American rights now.

Humm, interesting... so there could be hope that Paramount would finally release it in North America on DVD/Blu-ray...

Just watched this one with my wife, really enjoyed it! Nice 16:9 R2 disc - strange how the Australian disc which I can pick up easily is 4:3?! Great buddy cop movie with aliens thrown in.

Just released it turned 20 years-old this year!
On the day of the French release June 13th 1990, I ditched my karate class to go see it.
