I bought my UK DVD a couple of years ago and it was with a 15 cert. Are you sure it has been 18 before?

The VHS sure was 18.

And indeed the BBFC gave it 15 cert when it was presented again in 2009:
http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classifie ... Query=(%20[Title]%20contains%20%22MEN%20OF%20WAR%22)%20and%20((%20[TypeOfMedia]%20contains%20Film)%20OR%20(%20[TypeOfMedia]%20contains%20Video)%20OR%20(%20[TypeOfMedia]%20contains%20DigitalMedia))&SearchMax=50

which is even weirder since the Anchor Bay release is supposed to be uncut... Go figure...

Men of War Soundtrack

Postby rowan on 16 Jul 2010, 11:26

Been trying to download a song from the movie Men of War. I plays at the end credits and also when Dolph is with "Loki" in the forest. It's a haunting melody that is not listed on the soundtrack. Been trying for a few years but unable to locate it. Any help would be apprecaited.

Unfortunately the soundtrack has never been released, you have to rip it from the DVD.

I've never seen this movie before and just bought the DVD last week, but unfortunately I dont like it very much. It is essentially action movie without an action and one of the weakest Dolph's movies I've seen (but I still have not seen many of them).

First time I hear that as it's usually considered one of his best films both action and story wise. :?

Well, I would rate movies like Dark Angel (my favourite), Universal Soldier, Punisher, SiLT or even Red Scorpion higher. My wife almost fell asleep during watching MoW.

But I admit that the final fight in the cave was really good, also there are some nice views here and there, and atmosphere. I will give it another chance soon, maybe I need to watch it alone.

Gosh, I reckon she must have been dozing off during Dolph's and some other guys's bare chested scenes, otherwise she would have been wide awake throughout the whole movie!

She watches movies like Predator, Rambo series, Rocky series, Cobra, Commando etc. with me once a year. She also enjoyed Expendables and even admit that Dolph played good role there. She also enjoyed Dark Angel. But I am not surprised at all that she doesnt like MoW :P

I LOVE the MoW score. It's brilliant.

In the little snippet you posted here you can hear the genius of it. Introducing the theme (melody) in all traditional "eastern" instruments, played softly and carefully and the orchestra laying down ambiance behind it then the trumpet takes over the lead and brings the whole orchestra up with it to the key change and then a fully integrated (eastern/classical) and powerful version of the theme. It goes so well with the epic scenery of the movie.
