According to the ofdb there are 5 cuts in the RC1 US DVD (Rating R):
http://www.ofdb.de/view.php?page=fassun ... 2&vid=5667

Strange to say, the headline says "this version is uncut" but then they list five cuts and say it was for the R rating.

Thanks for the link :D, can anybody confirm these changes are missing? it seems like OFDB info was uncut but a member added this was cut!
This Actionfilm with Dolph Lundgren in the main role gives it in Germany equal in three versions: an extremely shortened FSK 16 version (on which this cut report is based), a likewise shortened FSK 18 version and an unabridged and unchecked version. US-dvd of Buena the Vista is in original broad wall of 2,35:1.

I notice the info @ Schnittberichte between the German FSK16 and video tape.

Thanks for all the info.

Yeah, I found the Schnittberichte article, too, but I thought it wasn't helpful. VHS is history. ;) And, of course, it doesn't provide the English sound.

At least the site has photo's for the movie with the cuts :!:, when I get my DVD I see if those shots are missing, it's a shame there did not put the time where the cuts where made.

Now the 2 weeks wait for the DVD to arrive from the US.

There is a cheap DVD, released in Netherlands with the unrated version. But sadly in fullscreen.

Does anybody own this :?: and know the time of the film, it would be interesting to see what it comes up with the speed up against the NTSC version.
too many of Dolph's movies are release with a 4:3 ratio :!:, France has release so many of his movies with the correct ratio, but unfortunately have forced Subtitles, Dubbed soundtracks or are cut :!:

I'm thinking of buying some of the Korean titles, until proper anamorphic transfers are done. I know their have "Army Of One", "Punisher", "Red Scorpion" [All 4:3] and "Men Of War" [Widescreen with a time of 93 mins] where the US title has a time of 102 mins :!: Strange, because most of the times Korea list longer times on covers.

Jep!

Unrated DVD: 98:45 Min (PAL) - Netherland
R-Rated DVD: 102:35 (NTSC) - USA

PAL runs 4 % faster then NTSC and so we convert 98:45 Min PAL in 102:52 Min. NTSC. There is a difference of 17 seconds (short additional bloody shootouts etc)

My Review of Men Of War

While browsing through my local Windsor Video store, I came across a most interesting thing: A vhs copy of Men Of War! What was odd was not the movie itself, but how in god's name I missed it this entire week of browsing. I had already uncovered VHS copies of Army of One, Cover-Up, Red Scorpion, I come in Peace, and Universal Soldier (all of which I already have), yet somehow missed this one, despite it being in plain view with an entire row of films cleared out of its way, the other VHS tapes obviously cringing in fear of a Dolph Lundgren movie.

I kid you not, it had its own row. Not an asile, however, but it did have an entire TOP SHELF row all to itself.

Anyways, lets' move on.

The movie had great character and beautiful cinematography, but when that last half hour came and I was finally delivered my Dolph action, it was on-and-off. Some times it was fantastic with some of Dolph's best one-liners, but other times it was blurry, awkwardly staged and hectically directed.

Not enough action + poorly done action + okay action + pitch-perfect one-liners= Off balanced Dolph movie. Best movie he has ever done, but not the best DOLPH movie he has ever done. Savvy?.

2.5/5

P.S. The fact that I got to watch another great Dolph movie really made my Saturday night special, and wetted my apetite for Sunday when I saw the 4.5/5 CASINO ROYALE. (best freakin' bond yet!)

FYI "Men Of War" will be released on DVD in Japan in March and according to CDJapan, it would be presented in widescreen 2.35 aspect ratio and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound (US region 1 was only Dolby 2.0). Don't ask about extra features, I doubt there will be any unless we get really lucky...

I have the US DVD and somebody told me that it is a cut version. Is that true? I had the impression that it is complete. And it is 19 minutes (!) longer than the German FSK 16 version.

Just purchased the Dutch release the other week and just notice it has a Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 track on the disc.

If only this release was in OAR!

I ordered it too, and to be honest, not much is lost by zooming in on your TV, and the DTS is welcome.

Finally. MEN OF WAR comes to the UK on DVD

It's published by Anchor Bay, so possibly DTS as well (most old films have remastered DTS), and hopefully widescreen!
