John Sayles on MEN OF WAR!
Excerpt from the book Sayles on Sayles by Gavin Smith, Faber & Faber, 1998

That's very interesting to hear from Sayles. I'm glad he quite liked the film too.

Funny I find it now when I had been looking for something for years, and I actually just got in touch with Sayles himself a couple of weeks ago.

Excellent theatrical review (July 1995) from French posh TV cultural mag Telerama:

The toilet commodity discussed above might not be from the MEN OF WAR production but from THE QUEST shoot instead...

The temple that was built stayed on location for a while and used for movies, notably one of the TOMB RAIDER films apparently.

So it's in first one or second? (I vaguely remember seeing the first which was indeed terrible)

First one (so much wrong stuff in this movie).
But so much good stuff in MoW :)

Unfortunately, Subkultur (who just made the awesome SILENT TRIGGER Blu-ray) say they can't get the rights to MEN OF WAR (which is in Germany at the lame Euro Video and might switch to another company apparently):

The good news is that MOW is getting the Blu-ray treatment next year (hopefully in 2.35:1 this time and not 1.78 like the Echo Bridge/Miramax bundle), the bad news is that it's coming from Oliver Krekel/Platinum Cult Edition, who does suspiscious liftings/makeovers to their films...
