Enjoyed this episode, guys!
Would have been cool if MOW could have had a theatrical release. At least then it would be remembered outside of just hardcore action fans. Don't think it would have done too well though. Back then through a lot of the 90's it seemed like Dimension releases in theaters were just meant to bring attention to their video debut down the road. Maybe their one breakout in the first half of the 90's was THE CROW. Eventually they had the SCREAM films and some others but MEN OF WAR likely would have fared as well as their release of GUNMEN in '94.

Thanks, Molt!
It's hard to tell it would have performed had it been released in US theatres, in France it had an OK number of screens, excellent reviews even from serious publications, and the numbers were terrible, slightly above in Spain but not great either. As I said in the podcast, the marketing was off, and also by 1995 the film looked a bit out of place, whereas it would have been perfect had it been made in the late 80s... It's no surprise the original script was penned at the time of PLATOON and other post-Vietnam flicks which were out of fashion some 7-8 years later.

Here's my interview with Perry Lang, the director of MEN OF WAR! Lots of cool intel and insight on this underrated classic! Hope you enjoy!
Very cool! Perry Lang is a really sweet and intelligent guy.
By the way I think this behind the scenes wouldn't have been available if I hadn't unearthed it! (even Perry didn't seem to have it before):

On this day in 1995, "Men of War" came out theatrically in France where yours truly first saw it.

Here's a nice little interview with Perry Lang. As a TV director on so many mainstream shows, I'l surprised you don't find so many interviews with him but maybe it's because he's so quiet and humble. https://www.independent.com/news/2018/a ... erry-lang/

I believe this concerns some of the then unknown beach locations discovered during the MEN OF WAR scouts...
