Yesterday, I watched the japanese movie "Kenki" / La Lame Diabolique (there doesn't seem to be an official english title for this one, or maybe "Sword Devil") by Kenji Misumi, and it's weird how the ending reminded me oh The Punisher's ending. I won't post it here, but the movie is easily found on YT.
The protagonist is heavily wounded and bleeding, and disapear, then a "good" character arrives, tries to find the protagonist and screams his name (echoing in the valley / mountains).

Cool, thanks for pointing that out (maybe it'll get a reference in the book?)!

It's fun to see here and there that people are fantasizing about Dolph coming back as the Punisher in the multiverse of Marvel (following the Loki tv show, where it seems that "anything is possible" character-wise). But I doubt he would be game for that (unless there's a sh*tload of money for a couple minutes on the screen  )
