Jox wrote:Thanks to the national audiovisual archives here, I dug up a French TV interview of Dolph during the release of the film (he did quite a few TV and radio shows here including mainstream newscasts)

Another gem I found, the interview of artist Mike Zeck ("Punisher: Circle of Blood" and "Return to Big Nothing") with the first footage shown on French TV in June 1989.

Image
(at the time, Zeck was quite impressed by the footage he'd seen and Dolph's portrayal)

Work in progress: the 3 different cuts retrieved of the workprint
(none of which are Mark Goldblatt's director's cut according to the man himself)
https://twitter.com/punisher_book

Cut #1, 99 minutes (without credits)
Image
(DVD copy of VHS copy of X generation VHS copy found by the site Asylum of Oblivion)

Cut #2, 97 minutes (without credits),

(from director's personal Beta tape transfer, probably the cut that was first screen-tested)

Cut #3, 81 minutes (without credits)

(almost final cut except for the ending)

A raving magazine review of my book from "Ciné Kung Fu" arguing that it could be reference if we taught writing books on the history of a films, comparing it with the making of CHINATOWN and the works of Laurent Bouzereau... 8)

Rejected and re-cut 3 times between 1989 and 1993, THE PUNISHER was banned in Dolph's native Sweden until it's 2013 Blu-ray release...
