Right! I didn't even catch that it was mentioned SD on the back cover! At least it's kind of honest not to lie about it...

Found it interesting that they slapped the Echo Bridge logo on there as well. As I don't think they have the rights to any Miramax movies any more. Those are with Lionsgate now.

Latest episode of IMBTP is here! This time we're discussing BLACKJACK! Joining me to discuss this one is Bryan Coyne, writer and director of the independent horror films, INFERNAL and BAD APPLES! This was a ton of fun to discuss. My co-host, especially, has an immense affinity for this one! Enjoy!!!

Did you know that THE MINION and SWEEPERS were actually shot and completed/screened at markets before BLACKJACK was finished, even though the latter was pretty much launched as his next title after PEACEKEEPER? I personally count them chronologically in the order they were made despite the release dates sometimes being mixed up.

I thought about that, believe me, I did. However, to the general public and those who are unfamiliar with D's extensive work, I thought I would go in the order listed on imdb and make a verbal note of it in the individual episodes. Regardless, it's been fun truly dissecting these films that haven't really gotten their due (at least in podcast form :D ).

Blackjack (second review)
http://outlawvern.com/2016/05/02/blackj ... nd-review/
I wonder what this would’ve been like if it had been picked up as a series? I guess Jack would protect different clients, raise Casey, spend some more time in casinos. Someone besides Woo would’ve directed and other episodes would most likely be lighter on flaming cars and motorcycles and buildings and people. So fuck that. We got the better option. Third best American John Woo movie, and a great showcase for Dolph.

https://www.dvd-forum.at/news-details/7 ... -mediabook

Weitere Details folgen

Here's the first information about the upcoming media books of John Woo's "Blackjack":
As feared, the initial material was anything but optimal, but nevertheless we tried to get the best possible out of this image master for you - and we think we did it quite well. With all justified criticism, it must not be forgotten that "Blackjack" is a TV production from the 90 s and that is why it is forbidden to compare with current blockbuster titles.

We bring "Blackjack" in the 2-Disc Mediabook with the following specifications:
Disc 1: Blu-Ray with 4:3 And 16:9 Version of the long version with both synchros and of course o-Tone + additional material

Disc 2: DVD with long and short version in 4:3

More details to follow

(I think the difficulty to remaster it is like that even though it was filmed in 35 mm film, it was finished on analog SD video, like many TV shows of that era...)
