If Dolph would make a sequel out of his own films, I think THE MECHANIK would be a more obvious choice. It has room for more story, it was probably the most successful (commercially AND critically), one of Dolph's favorites and plus Nu Image would be more than happy to finance it and have it filmed at their studios.
What sorta status is the film in now, is Dolph eyeing a 2009 start? Does it have a full, but perhaps not finalized script? I reckon Dolph should definately take a couple of months off before starting on Wanted Man.
Not sure what the exact status is but it's not ready to start for sure.
They've been working on the script for a couple of years now but as you know they never stop re-writing and polishing it until filming is wrapped.
If he's following through with that personal production trifecta, he should go ahead and make the dvd cover as well, as opposed to letting the distributor just paste some image from his previous film onto a shitty/blank background.
In a perfect world. Producer/ distributor: not the same thing. Unless he has the distribution rights and releases himself (which I have never seen done by a director, except for David Lynch who released his INLAND EMPIRE in the US and took the prints in each city personally) it doesn't give him the control and rights to decide on the cover; he can only make one and they can accept to use it or not.
