JC is in HK now. I realize he has a place there, but do you think that plans could have changed? I mean they were never going to film in NOLA and they were supposed to film in China. Not HK.

HK is part of China but anyway before the holidays they didn't even know where they would shoot. Plans change all the time. Regarding JCVD I assume he finished his re-shoots for EAGLE PATH and is back in the editing room (he did all his post in HK)...

HA! I know HK is part of China, but they were originally going to film on the mainland. Not in HK. I'm wondering if this could open the door for him to appear. Would love to see him and Dolph have a scene.

Chuck Norris just said that the movie will be PG-13 in recent interview in Poland:

When Chuck Norris says he's playing a "super hero" who "saves everybody", you know you have to take his words with more than a pinch of salt...!

It's all very vague, he may be full of it, or he's talking of a PG13 level of language for HIS dialogue, OR like it happens in Hollywood, the producers made him promises with no intention of keeping it just to sign him in the movie. It's the MPAA commission decides of the rating of a film, and it won't happen before June-July anyway. That said, like for the first one, the studios might be undecided whether to go for PG13 or R...

Well...Sly confirmes...TE2 is PG-13!!!

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/52774

Harry, the film is fantastic with Van Damme turning in an inspired performance... Our final battle is one for the ages. The PG13 rumor is true, but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level. This movie touches on many emotions which we want to share with the broadest audience possible, BUT, fear not, this Barbeque of Grand scale Ass Bashing will not leave anyone hungry...Sly

This morning when I read this I was pissed as hell!!! Now I'm a bit chilled...but still, IMO this is a big mistake!

I read comment on couple of sites...people are really disappointed, bunch of them are saying that now they definitely wont watch movie in theater, that they will rather download it. Chuck Norris killed him self with this...all the cool he had going for himself. And Sly should of known better...he knows his fans, he listen them...he knows how happy people where when they decide to make first movie R. And now this...he should know better...

First of all, kids that Chuck is mentioning dont care about him Sly or Van Damme, they dont care about this movie...they will go see new Spider Man or Batman movie anyway, so I dont think they will get more wider audience with this. On the other hand, people who are interested in this movie, older guys who grown up watching action movies in the 80s and 90s don't want PG-13 shit, and loots of them are disappointed, and I really belive that loots of them is going to boycott movie in theaters...

But then again...beside three bloody scene in the first movie (cutting guy in half by Dolph, blowing heads by Crews and cutting head and hands by Sly) there where not many really violent, bloody scenes in first movie. And bad language...there wasn't may F words in a first place. There was a scene in directors cut where Sly says to Li "what fucking family", and in original cut he just said "what family", and honestly...that "what fucking family" sounded kind of weird coming from him, so maybe lack of F words wont be a that big of a problem.
And to be honest...people get away with a lot in PG-13 movies these days. There is a loots of PG-13 movies that I wast even aware that they where PG-13, and that I fucking love...like Star Trek, Quantum Of Solace, Casino Royale, Mission: Impossible III, The Bourne Supremacy, Hellboy, Die Hard 4 etc.

For example...Casino Royale...is violent and bloody, and has sex scenes...I was really under ipresion that is R movie. Also Die Hard 4...its awesome...its bloody enough, loots of action, Willis braking necks and shooting people...never would say its PG-13...

So its not necessary that TE2 is going to be bad because of that...only what they could loose money...

The rating is a secondary issue for me. The film MUST be good. I mean in all honesty, the best two action films I saw last year were Fast and Furious 5 and MI4. Both were PG-13, and both by no means soft. The Dark Knight was possibly the best action movie in a decade on its release. That was PG-13 and the film was still really intense.

Blood and swearing don't count for intensity. The Expendables wasn't far off being a PG-13. In fact one thing that tipped it over to R rating was actually the use of CGI blood. One of the major complaints of the film. Looking back that film wasn't as good as it should have been. It delivered the minimum, but now this film has to deliver more. Plus, the want to make as much, if not more money on this to ensure a 3rd instalment. If PG-13 helps that, and helps potentially seeing DL in another theatrical release, so be it.

Bring it on! Would I rather have an average R rated film, or a really fricking awesome PG 13? PG 13 all the way. Of course now Sly has to deliver on the promises made. He really has to blow our socks off, because what I will say for Hard R's, is that if the film is shit, you can still kinda fall back on the punch of the violence. Rambo 4 wasn't a great film, but people still remember it because of how gruesome it was.

But...JC's part sounds really good. I'm delighted for him. He's got it in him to be a really great actor, so hopefully he shows it.

I am open to discussion and not totally totally opposed to it. I mean, I'm not gonna get angry but I think what they're doing is a little foolish...

First post in AGES but I had to comment. Firstly, what the fuck does Norris know about cinema today? His narrow minded and let's face it contradictory values seem to have impaired his judgement. Okay so by Norris's way of it, it's okay to beat someone to a pulp (example: his last movie The Cutter which was rated 18 for violence in the UK but contained no swearing) but not okay to use swear words? The thing is, ten year olds don't want to see The Expendables, they want to see a Shrek sequel or whatever dumbass animated cash-in milk-the-shit-out-of-the-franchise movie happens to be in cinemas that week. And what Nu Image gain on admissions from twelve year olds, they'll lose on the fans. I don't really see a purpose in all of this. I have watched the first Expendables a good few times and liked it less every single time. The fights are choppy, the script is nonsense, the acting is appauling in places, the violence is not hard enough, it's cheesy. It's basically a bunch of dinosaurs getting together and making a movie that's as cheesy as their 80's charades. Apart from that, it's a pretty decent movie. Haha. I just don't think they are going to gain much by doing this and as soon as I heard that it was partly filming in Bulgaria I was kinda skeptical about the dedication to producing a good movie by the people involved as opposed to producing something that will make them much more money. In the end, it is a business and something which must make money above and beyond critical reception but I can't help feel that with a PG-13 rating we won't see much blood, there certainly won't be any swearing in the one-liners and the fact that this issue has arisen kinda reminds us how close the first was to a PG-13 rating itself minus a few scenes and certainly tarnishes the image of what should have been a more violent and better edited movie. Again, I think Norris is way off in his religious views. It's a film. He says he won't be in films that kids can't watch. So what, they're gonna make everything PG-13 from now on? Kids aren't meant to watch nor would likely want to watch a violent action movie anyway, at least not that many in my opinion to warrant a down rating. And what, they only make movies for kids? What's he gonna suggest next, that they make porn for kids? There are ratings for a reason and that is to say, X group of people can watch X, Y group of people can watch Y and X etc. Not every movie can be kid-friendly and that's the reason for the ratings. Norris needs to learn that they make stuff like Toy Story for kids, not The Expendables. I watched a recent interview with him from Arsenio Hall in 1991 around the release of The Hitman and he talked about being a born again Christian. But The Hitman is by far his most violent film and the one in which he swears the most. So why over the past few years has he become so religious that it affects his work ethics? Think they need to rethink this one. Really, really surprised at Sly.

What fckng bullshit! PG-13!? It's the dumbest possible move on Sly's behalf.

The point of being an R-rated movie is not to have constant cursing and nudity and brutal violence, it is that THE POSSIBLILLTY of the aforementioned is there. While watching it you should feel like anything COULD happen. That's exiting. After that it doesn't matter how much of it is in there, in fact, it should be little enough of the R-rated stuff that it stands out when it occurs.

It's like the difference between watching a "gritty cop drama show" on NBC or on HBO. On regular television everything is watered down and it takes a lot of the exitement out of it, on cable you get the feeling that intense things could happen at any time (pretty much).

It's such a huge mistake. We loved the first movie even though it's not all that great a movie because it was the throwback movie to the R rated, tough guy movies of the past. And now this? Fck Sly Stallone! Fck him in his stupid PG-13 face!

(Nice to be back, btw)

Sure, they may release a PG-13 version in the theaters(studio decision?) to try to draw more and younger crowds(could they be planning on releasing Expendables action figures?), but I would bet anything that come DVD time, an R-Rated Directors Cut will soon follow in the footsteps of the PG-13 version. Similar to the original Expendables and it's "Extended Director's Cut". Fingers crossed for luck! :)
