This has been a slow release, we've not heard much about it for a while.

Yeah which is sometimes the case with indie flicks. I guess this is not an easy sell despite the stellar cast and they don't know how to market it. Too quirky. There's a release set for March 2013 in Australia.

I'm assuming it's along the lines of Juno and Little Miss Sunshine, movies which managed to develop a really strong following and lots of hype, so something along those lines would be good. They need to know their target market.

Sony finds 'Apartments'
It takes distrib rights for N. America plus other countries
By ANDREW STEWART

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has nabbed distribution rights to Rebel Wilson starrer "Small Apartments" for North America and most international territories.
"Small Apartments," from Swedish helmer Jonas Akerlund, premiered earlier this year at the SXSW film festival. The film follows a clumsy recluse, played by Wilson's "Bridesmaids" co-star Matt Lucas, who accidentally kills his landlord and embarks on a cover-up.

Pic also features James Caan, Billy Crystal, Johnny Knoxville and Rosie Perez.

"Apartments" was financed by Ben Feingold and Ash R. Shah, who also produced with Timothy Wayne Peternel, David Hillary and Bonnie Timmermann. Pic's scribe Chris Millis exec produced, along with Feingold, John Glynn and Bridget McMeel.

Sony is finalizing the film's distribution plans, including the label by which to launch "Apartments." The studio likely will release the film next year.

SMALL APARTMENTS will close the Ithaca International Fantastic Film Festival in New York on Sunday, November 18 at 8:45 PM. It will be introduced and followed by a Q&A with writer Chris Millis.

“…for those willing to be taken into a world—and a life—where nothing is to be expected, Small Apartments is an absolute treat.”—Bryce Renninger (Indiewire)

The screening will be introduced and followed by a Q&A by original story and screenplay writer Chris Millis.

When a clumsy deadbeat accidentally kills his landlord, he decides he has to do everything he can to hide the body—but lust, the death of his beloved brother, and a crew of misfit characters force him on a journey where fortune awaits him. Director Jonas Akerlund (The Prodigy’s “Smack My Bitch Up”) does an amazing job bringing to life Chris Millis’ prize-winning script, with the help of Matt Lucas’ astonishing performance as Franklin Franklin, as well as a high-profile cast of supporting actors including Billy Crystal, James Caan, Dolph Lungreen, and Jackass’ Johnny Knoxville. Small Apartments is one of the unexpected small films of 2012 that definitely deserves to be seen, discussed, and promoted among your friends!

Bad news SMALL APARTMENT was supposed to screen today at the Ithaca International Fantastic Film Festival in New York and was cancelled by the distributor for "piracy policy" (or is it just an excuse because they don't believe in the film?)...
Bad news for the festival- We tried hard for the last 3 days to fix the problem but unfortunately the distributor and producers decided to block the screening of Jonas Akerlund's Small Apartments for 'piracy policy'. Screenplay writer Chris Millis just sent us an email to apologize on the situation for which is not responsible, neither is Jonas. Anyway we are now working hard to find another film to fill the spot- Don't worry film lovers, you'll not be disappointed ! Update soon-
Leos Carax's HOLLY MOTORS will replace it and profit from it's already proven acclaims and festival buzz.
