Disappointing news :(
SMALL APARTMENTS has not been selected for the Sundance festival competition line-up. Can it still get a special screening?

Now the rumor of the day is that Per Gessle from Roxette (remember?!) may have recorded a song for the film. That wouldn't be surprising, with Swedish Akerlund being such a big music video director we can expect a damn good soundtrack in this movie (and didn't Dolph mention playing some Barry White?!)

Gessle's song would be good. :)

I hope Arkelund will have more inspiration than from last rammstein's videos (pussy was over the top for me, "ich tu dir weh" was less than interesting and "mein land" was over rated. "Mann gegen mann" was the one I prefered).
I think his other videos are nice but not really interesting.

The cinematographer Pär M. Ekberg tweeted about supervising the color grading, so the film is about to be completed by tonight or next week. I hope it can get into a good festival soon, if they pursue that route, it might delay its mainstream release (because they would want the film do the rounds at several domestic and international festivals before distributing it).

Inferno Entertainment (THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT and TOMORROW WHEN THE WAR BEGAN) handles the international distribution rights through their Ember label. They'll take the movie to the Berlin Film Market in February.

P.S.
Per Gessle from Roxette confirmed on FB about the soundtrack
http://www.dailyroxette.com/2012/new-so ... -released/
I've done the soundtrack, based on the Son of a Plumber vibe, for Jonas Åkerlund's new movie "Small Apartments". The music has been recorded at the AGM Studio and as expected the mighty Mr Lundquist & Mr Ofwerman have been the cornerstones. The film? Well, it's a "dark comedy" (based on the S.A. novel) starring Matt Lucas, Billy Crystal, James Caan and Peter Stormare in the leading parts. And yes, it's a wonderful movie. And yes, there will be a soundtrack. And yes, we have to release it on vinyl as well. I'm really proud to be part of this. Cheers, P. PS. Jonas is God.

The Playlist Names “Small Apartments” One Of Most Anticipated Indie Films Of 2012

BY OLIVER LYTTELTON | JANUARY 10, 2012 | Indiewire.com

"Small Apartments"

What You Need To Know: On the "randomly assembled cast" meter, only one film in 2012 is able to compete with "Battleship" -- "Small Apartments." The latest film from music video veteran Jonas Akerlund, it features among its ensemble James Caan, Billy Crystal, Johnny Knoxville, Rosie Perez and Dolph Lundgren. Based on Canadian (huh?) writer Chris Millis' award-winning novel, British comedian Matt Lucas ("Bridesmaids," "Alice in Wonderland") toplines this quirky dark comedy, compared by some to "A Confederacy of Dunces," with Juno Temple, Amanda Plummer, Saffron Burrows, DJ Qualls, Rebel Wilson, Peter Stormare and David Koechner also along for the ride. Akerlund's hyperactive style did no favors to his near-unwatchable "Spun" or "Horsemen," but this seems like enough of an oddity that we're intrigued to see more. Also intriguing to note, ex-Roxette frontman Per Gessle is scoring the film.

Uh, oh... "hyperactive style"? That sounds like "shakycam with frantic cuts" to me. My personal hell. :?

I don't think this one will be "hyperactive", it's a quirky comedy and not a genre piece like his previous films, but he comes from music videos and commercials so it's probably gonna be visually "original" to say the least...

For those wondering when we're gonna see pics of Dolph in SMALL APARTMENTS, Akerlund wants to keep Lundgren's look a surprise until the movie premieres.
