Lundgren’s presence alone is pretty much what carries the picture but he deserves more and so does his audience.

As always though it’s the underused Dolph Lundgren that turns in the greatest performance. As I stated, by the end of the film you want him to be victorious. His measured and restrained responses play into his nice guy attitude, until he gets you in his grasp. Lundgren has a very menacing look to him and works well as a bad guy. It’s unfortunate that this talent had such a poorly written script to work from, and even more unfortunate is how that script was executed to the screen.

Just finished this. Borderline hated it. Thought it was just one big, dull, boring piece of drivel. The editing/direction choices were garbage and Lundgren was mostly seen through a blue coloured CCTV tape style effect. I absolutely loathed that constant effect like you were watching a security tape, seriously it was so damn cheap considering the locations actually looked nice. It started out mega promising too, I loved the first few scenes. Lundgren is way above shit like this. His character was interesting, if a tad uneven thanks to the bullshit script. Seriously guys Dolph is decibels above this pathetic murmur. Thought I was gonna enjoy this one too; another project marginally saved by D.

Finally saw it last week-end. Re-read the screenplay and I must say that much was lost in the process somehow... First of, the security cameras POV and silly USB key were added for the shoot, then some of Spector/Dolph's dialogues and scenes were given to Jaffe/Jon Huertas, also some action was dropped or simplified and some of the backstory and conflicts also went down the drain, leaving us with a product that isn't as bad and some say IMO but certainly deserved better. So what happened here? Cheap producers? Schedule was too short? Director (who seemed more at ease on EL GRINGO) Rodriguez got overwhelmed?

My sentiments exactly. Glad I'm not the only one who felt this way... The film isn't horrible, it's just so incredibly disjointed, especially in terms of Dolph's character. It's apparent that some kind of a backstory was there with Spector, but that all seems to get ditched in the final act. A real missed opportunity.

The Australian release is the only one so far to feature a "behind the scenes featurette".

Finally saw it!

It's not good. It's one of those movie where you couldn't care less what happens to the protagonists, which makes it really boring. It has that Canadian-shot "TV-movie" feel about it.

Pretty bad, IMO.
