Grace Jones interviewed by Andy Warhol (& André Leon Talley) in 1984
WARHOL: Who is James Bond now?
JONES: It’s still Roger Moore, but I wish it were Hans [Lundgren, GJ’s bodyguard beau now known as Dolph Lundgren]. He should be the next James Bond. I don’t think Roger has much more…

TALLEY: This is his last film.
JONES: I don’t think he can go anymore. Hans is going to be coaching me for the kickboxing scenes. I’m a kickboxer in the movie and Hans is a champion kickboxer, so it’s perfect.

WARHOL: He’ll be in the movie, too?
JONES: Yeah, I don’t know anyone who could coach me any better.

“She was playing the baddie and Roger Moore was Bond,” says Dolph. “He was nice to me. I was just a kid, a nobody. He always smoked a cigar and said, ‘Dolph is larger than Denmark’.

“Once, in Cannes, I saw him in a restaurant. In front of about 200 people, he yelled, ‘Oh, Dolph, we’ve got one thing in common – I also hate Jean-Claude Van Damme!’ But I don’t hate Jean-Claude. The trouble was, he’d done a film with Roger and it wasn’t very good.”

It's an oddly forgotten part of the Bond canon really. I always felt it should have been held in higher regard. I mean it's not brilliant, and it's certainly nowhere close to top 10 Bond, but there's memorable set pieces (notably Eiffel Tower), great villains (you've got Chris Walken in a Bond film which is awesome, and Grace is great), and one of the best theme tunes too. I know Roger was too old to play the part in reality, but that aside, I've always enjoyed View to a Kill. Probably more so than the previous 3 Moore did, with two that feel forgettable and interchangeable (Eyes Only and Octopussy) and then of course the legendary Moonraker. Iconic, possibly for the wrong reasons.
And obviously the Dolph walk on...
