I guess that's what happens when you push the borders of the usual DTV plot; revenge, kidnap, hitman thriller. Which is not a criticism as it gets tedious even for us when they come up with the same plots. However plots about international terrorism such as Black Dawn with Seagal are more suited to blockbuster type movies as they require sizeable explosions and city locations etc etc. However the first two photos from BOTD show interesting locations, so hopefully there is a small chance this won't be a letdown. The only time you are guaranteed a reasonable effort with D's starring films are when he directs himself.

Well-said. I agree. Everyone of the projects that Dolph direted himself surpassed my expectations. I'm saving my judgments for Battle of the Damned when I see it next year, but it is an extremely ambitious project for, let's face it, most likely not the biggest budget. To be honest, I'm surprised they're even going the zombies AND robots route... I can understand going with one of the two, but both elements seem to be hoping for quite a lot on a limited budget...

With that being said, the look of Dolph is cool. Let's just hope it doesn't have the feel of one of Asylum Entertainment's infamous "mockbusters"...

Just found out about this today when Dolph tweeted the photos.

Dolph fighting zombies sounds like a crappy movie, even for Dolph Lundgren standards. I also didn't think the photos look cool.

I have been wanting to see Dolph do something different, especially since he is old now. This is different for him, just not what I'd hoped for.

I could be wrong. I will give it a chance though and see it as soon as it comes out like I do every Dolph film, good or bad.

Oh fuck, you should have seen him IRL. When I sah him just in front of me at the Exp 1 premiere I thought how slick and well trained he still looks. You could see from all three, Sly, Stath and him, that they certainly do their extreme workouts every week. But Dolph is the only tall guy.

I think it looks like good fun, I like his outfit. Let's see. Granted, there have been some let-downs lately but hey, I always refer to that good old German saying: "Hope dies last." 8)

This how much of an impression THE MATRIX left on me: I don't remember this guy or a character named "the mouse"...

Hehe, me neither, but I'm grateful that the Wachowskis gave us Bullet Time and many other great movie inventions! The first one was a really cool movie, IMHO.

Given the look of their armors, it could be a new BRIDGE OF DRAGONS post-apocalyptic kind of flick with the additional zombies and robots.

Someone put John Hyams and his UNISOL 4 writing partners on the Wikipedia page for BATTLE OF THE DAMNED, if they took them to rewrite the project then it could be really something to look forward too! Too good to be true?

Dolph is wrapped and back in LA by the way (think the movie has completed principal photography as well but not sure.

Apparently the shoot went well (though very hot and humid) and it could turn out better than expected (unlike TOMB OF THE DRAGON which sounds like it's done cheap despite its 8 weeks of filming).

Pity, I had put my hopes on the Lundgren / Atkins buddy movie.

In the podcast interview Dolph says:
"It's a really good script you know, I didn't like it because I don't like zombie movies, robots, and zombies vs robots? I don't think so! But then I read the script and it's really cool, it's like ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK but like a modern version. And "Max Gatling", when somebody comes up with that name you gotta read the script right, because you know the guy has a sense of humour!"
