I used to think that Sony were the hacks in the dtv market when it came to putting out their titles... Yet where those who photoshopped messes, these are just cheap and pure lazy. Apparently, Lions Gate simply doesn't care about these titles. First PUNCTURE WOUNDS, now this. HIDDEN AGENDA and DETENTION (also distributed by Lions Gate in the US) were also bad. It's a shame. One would think that the company behind THE EXPENDABLES series would pay a little more effort and attention to their stars' other work...

On the plus side (if there was one), at least Dolph is getting top-billing...

Thing is it doesn't represent the film at all, but this is not appealing whatever the genre is! And they chose a particular bland photo for Adkins.

"Fear the legend..."

US DVD, UV, VOD & PPV press release
(so no Blu-ray, have to go with the French and upcoming German edition)

Include making of featurette though.

Running time mentioned is 85 minutes instead of 92. Either the statement is wrong or it's a cut version...

Prepare for an epic battle between man and beast when action stars Scott Adkins and Dolph Lundgren collide in Legendary, arriving on DVD (plus Digital UltraViolet), Digital HD, Video on Demand and Pay-Per-View July 29. Directed by Eric Styles (Miss Conception, True True Lie), the action-thriller follows the battle between two rivals to capture a mythical creature that shouldn’t exist. The Legendary DVD includes a “making of” featurette and will be available for the suggested retail price of $26.98.

Travis Preston assembles his team for an expedition to a remote region in China’s hinterland, where a wild animal that the locals believe to be a primeval monster they call the “Shocate” is said to roam free. Travis’ nemesis, Jim Harker, a merciless trophy hunter, has already set up camp. A race against time ensues and Travis and his team have to pool all their resources if they want to capture this legendary creature alive…

Too bad they're using the lame US artwork...
MovieScore Media and Kronos Records presents the score for the Oriental-flavored action / adventure score for Legendary: Tomb of the Dragon, directed by Eric Styles. The film follows the story of Travis Preston (Scott Adkins) who travels to China in order to find a mystical beast wreaking havoc in a remote village. Their search is made all the more impossible by the fact that they have to find the cave the dragon is lurking in, but they must also beat the hardened bounty hunter Harker (Dolph Lundgren) who has his own agenda for killing the monster. This score will have a digital and a physical release as well.

The score is provided by BAFTA winning, Ivor Novello nominated composer Paul Leonard-Morgan who is rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after film composers in the UK and the US. His most important credits include Neil Burger's Limitless and Pete Travis' Dredd, a gritty reboot of the classic comic book character. Most recently Paul recently scored the action thriller The Numbers Station and the animated family adventure Walking with Dinosaurs 3D where he tackled the task of underscoring the adventures of some real-life monsters instead of the fictional ones in Legendary.

"There are two main 'vibes' at play in this film - the fun and the scary" explains the composer about the score. "I wanted to write a tongue-in-cheek caper movie melody for the fun/searching for clues side of things. This approach can be found in tracks like 'Fun at the Morgue' and 'Breaking Out'. It's a fun string riff which is doubled on wind in places with a light percussive touch below it. For the scary stuff, which would signify the monster's presence each time, I recorded a low horn, detuned it and then bent its pitch for a creepy low brass sound ("Attack at the Site"). The music was recorded in Glasgow and features the performances of violinist Greg Lawson and vocalist Cariss Crosbie.

1. Bear Chase (3:09)
2. Walk to the Forest (3:42)
3. Fun at the Morgue (2:38)
4. Waiting at Night (2:33)
5. Chasing the Myth (3:43)
6. It's Not Your Fault (2:36)
7. Trashing the Pier (1:15)
8. Travis Story (2:42)
9. Attack at the Site (1:01)
10. You Were All Brave (1:34)
11. Night Boat Attack (3:05)
12. Breaking In (2:11)
13. Breaking Out (2:32)
14. Piecing It Together (2:42)
15. Search for the Cave (4:22)
16. The Creature's Lair (7:29)
17. Fighting the Beast (8:54)
18. Safety (1:53)

Download version additional tracks:
19. Walk to the Forest (Christophe Calpini Remix) (2:59)
20. Search for the Cave (Ivan Iusco Remix) (4:00)
21. Legendary (feat. Eve Molla) (Yves Larock Remix) (3:00)

Total duration: 68 minutes

Additional notes on the soundtrack & sound clips:
http://paulleonardmorgan.believeband.com/
"[…] The score is provided by BAFTA winning, Ivor Novello nominated British composer PAUL LEONARD-MORGAN who is rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after film composers in the UK and the US. His most important credits include Neil Burger’s Limitless and Pete Travis’ Dredd, a gritty reboot of the classic comic book character. Most recently Paul recently scored the action thriller The Numbers Station and the animated family adventure Walking with Dinosaurs 3D where he tackled the task of underscoring the adventures of some real-life monsters instead of the fictional ones in Legendary.

[…] The score was recorded in Glasgow, where Leonard-Morgan assembled quite a cast of talented musicians for the challenging solo parts. Violinist Greg Lawson, a principal of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, can be heard in several cues not only in Legendary, but many other scores by Paul. Vocalist Cariss Crosbie is another important addition. With the final magical touch of engineer Rupert Coulson (who also mixed Dredd and Limitless), Legendary shaped up to be a remarkable action adventure score which we’re proud to present to a wider audience." - Gergely Hubai
