Ed Pressman (legendary producer), Gary Goddard (director) and Stephen Tolkin (re-writer) will all be featured in Mark Hartley's feature documentary ELECTRIC BOOGALOO: THE WILD, UNTOLD STORY OF CANNON FILMS now in production.

Mark Hartley is an Australian director who already made many DVD special and acclaimed documentaries on exploitation film like NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD: THE WILD, UNTOLD STORY OF OZPLOITATION FILMS! and MACHETE MAIDEN UNLEASHED! His first fiction feature film was the remake of PATRICK which is apparently pretty good.

There is another feature documentary about Cannon that was just shown at the Cannes Classics official selection in presence of Golan & Globus but it does not tackle Dolph or MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. Good film though, maybe a bit consensual as I understand it was commanded by the ex-moguls. Also uses a lof of footage from the 1986 BBC doc THE LAST MOGULS.

Cool! Two documentaries to look forward to. I read a review of the Go-Go Boys in one of the Hollywood Reporter Cannes dailies.

Speaking of Cannon, anyone read the book Hollywood a go-go from 1987?

http://www.amazon.com/Hollywood-Go-Go-Account-Cannon-Phenomenon/dp/0722193890/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1400958070&sr=1-1&keywords=golan+globus

Used copies go for a hefty price, but I was thinking of buying one if it's worth a read.

Yes, I did read it.

Good book, lots of detailed infos and the whole story of the company (from when they bought it) and the financial reasons for their downfall. Only downside is that it was written before they were totally over, and moreover the writer seems to enjoy shooting them down so you have to question his intention especially since he probably started when they were at the top of their game in 1985-1986... So you also have to take it with a pinch of salt.

You might wanna check Amazon.co.uk, it'll be a lot cheaper there!
(and I got mine 10 years ago for like $0.01, now that was a bargain  )

There was also the aborted project of MENAHEM GOLAN: LIFE OF A CINEMANIAC a few years ago, but the directors told me they could not finish it. Because out of nowhere Golan/Globus decided to produce their own film about themselves (GO-GO BOYS)... and get all the money from it! They were also probably "afraid that the documentary would not ONLY be jubilant, but may ask some interesting, and maybe critical questions..."
