That's me!
Yeah, that's a trend I've been seeing recently with DTV movies, since the physical disc sales have declined and I guess VOD is now a bigger revenue stream for many of them. Like they re-titled Seagal's latest from
The Mercenary: Absolution to just
Absolution when they announced it would premiere on VOD, or the upcoming Diane Keaton Morgan Freeman drama went from
Ruth & Alex to
5 Flights Up since it will get a similar limited theatrical/VOD release.
I read an article some time ago that said if you're going to release your movie on VOD, your title better start with letters ranging from A to D or maybe it was F, but they said anything after that and you're movie has no chance of competing against the numerous other movies that are listed before that since people get tired of scrolling through the titles. Unless it's a high profile movie that might get featured on the front page of the VOD services.
In fact I'm a bit surprised that they haven't re-titled Van Damme's
Pound of Flesh to
A Pound of Flesh. Or maybe they will.
