And if there is an Aquaman 2, Dolph will be on it.

The 3 is supposed to be Dolph, according to EW.

Dolph and his men riding an army of sea dragons...
(really small scale so you have to zoom in the image to see any anybody)
http://ew.com/movies/2018/06/15/aquaman ... is-sharks/

The armies of King Orm (Patrick Wilson) and King Nereus (Dolph Lundgren) face off in this exclusive first look at the fantastical underwater world of Aquaman — and there’s a lot going on beneath the surface. First, let’s take an unobstructed look at this new image:

Now here’s one with some markup for us to discuss:

Image

This is an ancient meeting place called The Council of the Kings that’s fallen into ruin. It’s not in Atlantis (so we still haven’t seen that yet — it wasn’t in Justice League either) but on the outskirts.

1) When Atlantis sank into the ocean, it split into Seven Kingdoms. Each statue you see in the distance represents one of the original kings.

2) The Atlantean army on the right ride great white sharks into battle. “When you see these Atlantean army riding these sharks, it’s so photo-real it blows you away,” producer Peter Safran says.

3) King Nereus of the kingdom of Xebel and his men ride sea dragons. Director James Wan wanted to create these fearsome creatures, Safran notes, as a way of subverting the comic image of Aquaman riding a seahorse.

4) On the center right, you can see Orm astride his massive alligator-like “tylosaur.” Behind him, Vulko (Willem Dafoe) has mounted a giant black hammerhead shark.

Bonus: Here’s a really cool piece of concept art of the same shot, where you can see a few more details:

According to Aquaman Shrine,
"The movie draws material from Geoff Johns' unfinished work "Rise of the Seven Seas" and introduces new rulers, Atlantean kingdoms & a reimagination of a classic Aquaman villain originally intended for comics, on the big screen."

But if I remember, in the comics, Xebel is an alternative kingdom, not one of the kingdoms which resulted to the Altantide's sank ?!?

I don't know the comic, but from what I understand the film is quite different so there are changes from one to other.

What I really appreciate (as you know I'm not into the superhero movies of the last 10-15 years or so) is that AQUAMAN really seem to dig into the realm of Greek gods and myths, and again the underwater world setting make it stand apart and worthwhile to me... So I hope I will be able to enjoy it and not be "brainly" unsettled by overwhelming or crazy visuals and editing.

So the trailer will be unveiled at Comic-Con in July so we still have a few weeks to wait...
James Wan @creepypuppet
Comic-Con will be insane!! This is the new glyph/logo. Freshly smuggled out of Atlantis! (stolen off King Orm’s belt buckle)

Little disappointed that Dolph wasn’t even mentioned in the EW article... Oh well, hopefully this allows his character to make a big splash... pun intended.

Right, somehow it's better for his character not to be shown or advertised that much and make a surprising impression, which was was the case with JOHNNY MNEMONIC or the first EXPENDABLES for instance, and he's likely to kill it in this one, being emulated by the A-list cast and mega-production that it is...

Has anybody picked up the paper issue of EW? Is there more in there than the articles online?

Nope. It's a good article, but even in the sidebar where the film's other characters are briefly described, Dolph isn't even mentioned. Oh well. Like you said, I remember he was nowhere present in the marketing for MNEMONIC, and his character was one of the most memorable things about the film. Same with the first EXPENDABLES.

Given the fact that almost his entire role was cut out of the film and he appears as a dark silhouette (basically an extra) that's normal that they didn't advertise him in the movie, even Christophe Lambert (who's clearly in one scene) didn't have any publicity around him being in it.

'Aquaman' casts to appear on Conan at San Diego Comic-Con
http://ew.com/tv/2018/07/02/breaking-ba ... comic-con/
While O’Brien opens his stint at San Diego’s Spreckles Theatre with blue meth, he’ll close it with the deep blue sea. The cast of the upcoming underwater action thriller Aquaman, which includes Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and Nicole Kidman, will serve as guests for the final show on Sunday, July 22. (Exactly which Aquaman stars will appear on that show will be announced a later date.)
