Hollywood to release 5 huge movies on same day
The first film diving into the Dec. 21 battle royale is Warner Bros.’ Aquaman, which is probably a box office frontrunner. James Wan’s take on the DC universe has the most title recognition of the fivesome and its debut trailer was the most-watched video coming out of Comic-Con, racking up 37 million views

AQUAMAN will have to prove its merits right away and face the competition to be crowned king of Christmas box office...

Graham McTavish on ‘Preacher’, ‘Outlander’, His Secretive ‘Aquaman’ Role, and the Best Brand of Scotch

McTavish is best recognized as his role as the Saint of Killers on AMC’s Preacher but we can soon see him take on DC’s highly anticipated release Aquaman in December. In the interview, he discusses the crazy secretive nature of working with studies these days by saying:

“This business nowadays, it’s so secretive… and listen I mean the role in Aquaman, great. I had a great time doing it and everything but I am slightly puzzled by the level of secrecy nowadays in movies, and TV, and video games. The number of non disclosure agreements you have to sign, even if you’re just talking to somebody about doing a video game, there’s all this sort of stuff… I have seen the trailer and certainly from the people I have spoken to about it, I think it’s going to be really good. I mean Jason is great in it and so laid back that guy. I mean just barefoot playing a bass guitar pretty much the entire time.”

He also discusses the fact that of all the major releases coming soon that this one will be very different with all the blue screen this film required:

“I think it’s going to be very different…when you’re working on it, because there’s was so much blue screen, it was very difficult to get a sense of how this thing is going to look. Even down to all the water movement and the hair, and all the rest of it is all CG-ed. So, there’s no real water. And all of that becomes a bit disconcerting when you’re working in an environment like that after a while.”

He concludes the discussion by saying that he was very impressed with James Wan as a director and his ability to capture performances in this type of filmmaking:

“I was really impressed by his level of attention to detail, not just in the physical sense but in performance. He really really had a very clear idea of exactly how he wanted every beat to play in that film. Certainly with my involvement and it was extraordinary actually, you would spend a lot of time on things, tiny details, movements and props, the pace of movement, things that would establish a rhythm in the movie that I found incredibly impressive.”

Rumor has it that there has been some preview screening this weekend. These (supposedly) first reactions are kinda soso, but not catastrophic; But they usually are quite questionnable (first preview reaction to Justice League were really good ...).

Wait for closer to release. Wonder Woman had a "bad reactions" propaganda war against it too.

I didn't realise the PG13 rating was on the billing block, although this hasn't been published in the official weekly ratings bulletin yet...

It's all subjective and speculative anyway, there's been only a few people who reported about about the AQUAMAN test-screening(s), and even the interpretations of those individuals opinions have been interpreted in various ways...
