Michael Beach Joins Warner Bros’ ‘Aquaman’
http://deadline.com/2017/06/aquaman-mic ... 202118326/
Michael Beach is set for a role in Warner Bros’ Jason Momoa-starring DC Comics stand-alone film Aquaman. He joins Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Ludi Lin, Dolph Lundgren, Temuera Morrison and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the cast. James Wan is at the helm of the pic, which will hit theater during Christmas season 2018.

Warner Bros says Beach will play Jesse Kane, part of a group of high-seas hijackers who has a fateful interaction with Aquaman. But fans have been speculating that Beach is taking on the role of father to Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta, after Abdul-Mateen II himself posted a photo with Beach last month on his Twitter from Australia, where Aquaman was in production.

Beach fanned the flames when the Third Watch alum gave a vague non-denial denial when asked about whether he is playing the father. In one version the comics, Aquaman inadvertently kills Black Mantra’s father, which sends him on a vindictive spree. Warner Bros is staying mum on this.

Peter Safran producing the superhero pic while Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Rob Cowan and DC Film’s Geoff Johns and Jon Berg are executive producing.

Beach recently appeared in Liongate’s Patriots Day, directed by Peter Berg, and recurred on CW’s The 100 and Fox’s MLB series Pitch. He’s repped by Monica Barkett and Randal Gaines at Global Artists Agency.

It's still early, but I find it reassuring they're using the real actors to do some "rig" stunt. There will of course be CGi, but you can't achieve the fluidity of a body move (the more it goes, the more I find annoying that the mere stunt is either doubled or cgi-sed).

This is from the Justice League trailer to give us an indication of what the underwater filming will look like.

He seems relaxed and happy. Hope he's having a good time with this project.

At least here he didn't have to get there the day before shooting and has time on location to properly prep, not like on an EXPENDABLES movie...

what? is it just a comeo or what? or does it have something to do with re-shooting of Justice League?

What's the problem? He'll come back. This is a really long shoot and scheduling on these big movies can be like that especially for non-leading roles. He can film for another month or two when he gets back and who cares if he doesn't, even if it's for another couple weeks that still would add up for a decent screen time (and I doubt Nicole Kidman or Willem Dafoe will have much more plus the movie will probably run 2h20 or 2h30).
I guess Anthony Hopkins does do a cameo in TRANSFORMERS 12 or 17 (I lost count) but it's likely still an important role for his function in the story if not by screen time (which doesn't matter if done right).

Also, let's remind what a cameo is because the word seems to have lost his meaning among DTV fans lately. A cameo it's a really short appearance (like an extra, except from a famous actor, or one scene max) by a notable personality, not to be confused with a supporting role... Also if the role is really intricate to the story/plot it's not a cameo.

Dolph's recent role as a TV character in WELCOME TO WILLITS is a cameo, but his decisive part in FEMALE FIGHT CLUB is not one. JCVD's walk on appearance in LAST ACTION HERO was a cameo in the true sense of the word, Hitchcock's appearances in his movies were as well.
