Aquaman director says this is rival Marvel's most surprising achievement
http://www.ew.com/movies/2018/07/09/mar ... n-america/
Wan also pointed out that despite the rigors of creating his film within a larger cinematic universe, his DC and Warner Bros. bosses allowed him to make the film uniquely his own — something he required before agreeing to do the job.

“I told them that I understand and respect that Aquaman is part of a bigger universe but at the end of the day I have to tell the story I want to tell and want to develop the character because its such a big part of my life as the filmmaker behind it,” Wan says. “And that was something the studio was respectful about.”

I have a much better feeling about Aquaman now than I had two months ago. Something that hasn't been posted here is Geoff Johns demotion from being one of the DC film heads which was announced last month. He's one of the people complicit in the issues that have been plaguing DC films, especially in the editing room. From all accounts Walter Hamada is much more film maker friendly. My friend who has read the script also has a lot of praise for it.

Nope. Dolph is a "human" Atlantean.

Also a funny piece of trivia is Djimon Hounsou and Natalia Safran who play "fish" creatures in this, also play human characters in DC comics' following film Shazam.

'I had to stand on a box. She's so tall!' Temuera Morrison admits he needed a boost while starring alongside statuesque Nicole Kidman in Aquaman... and reveals the Australian star is forced to 'stand in a hole' so she doesn't tower over short actors

Temuera Morrison set for big second-half of 2018 thanks to Aquaman's Jason Momoa
https://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/c ... ason-momoa
"Jason gave me the nod for Aquaman [Morrison plays Momoa's character Arthur Curry's father Thomas], just as an opportunity to meet me. I think Once Were Warriors really moved him in a way both in terms of his culture and his own identity. I think it shook him up a bit. I even heard him say a few words to his kids when they visited the set [on Australia's Gold Coast]: 'This is the fella who get me into the business kids'. He really respected my performance."

Not more reactions on the Den of Geek SDCC special magazine cover art?
(commissioned by James Wan as a Drew Struzan-like illustration)

EDIT:
From EW's SDCC special issue:

Image

The sea dragons are ridden by the people of Xebel — one of the seven underwater kingdoms of Atlantis, their leader is King Nereus (Dolph Lundgren) and Mera (Amber Heard) is one of their warriors.

“The idea was to turn on its head the idea of Aquaman riding a seahorse, take something for which he was mocked and turn it into something terrifying and impressive,” says producer Peter Safran. “He’s a Xebellian creature but I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Arthur (Jason Momoa) on one at some point…”

Love the Den of Geek poster!
Cool art style. Hopefully this is indicative of the actual movie.
Great to see Dolph so prominently featured too! I hope he shows up in the trailer. But the cast i big so i would settle for just a brief glimpse.

I am still a bit on the fence about Mmomoa. His constant brooding smirk does not do it for me. That said; I did not see Justice League and I liked him fine on GoT.
