French critic Yannick Dahan almost praises Dolph Lundgren as the best actor in the film and thus being perhaps the only reason to defend it...

Peter Jackson must be turning down everything he's being offered but here you go:

Peter Jackson Turned Down Aquaman Twice

Speaking to Empire in the Spider-Man: Far From Home issue, Jackson revealed that he was offered the chance to direct Aquaman twice by former Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara – but turned it down both times. “He said, ‘Are you a fan of Aquaman?’ I said, ‘No.’ Six months later: ‘Peter, are you a fan of Aquaman?’ I said, ’No, Kevin, I already told you this’,” Jackson recalls. “I’m not a superhero guy. I read Tintin… Look, films are hard. I only want to make something that I have a deep passion for.” It seems for now, Jackson is more than content working on his documentaries, telling Empire: “I don’t really anticipate making another theatrical film for a year or two.”

Unusually to my habits, I have not yet watched the special features (or the film which I wanted to get a second viewing opinion on), but here are a couple of screenshots of Dolph interviewed and on set:

James Wan Reveals Aquaman Trench Spinoff Movie Details
https://comicbook.com/dc/2019/06/21/jam ... e-details/
"We, you know, we're still deep in sort of crafting the script, crafting the story right now so I don't want to get into that too much, but definitely it's one that I really want to lean into the horror of it, so it's going to play more as a monster horror movie then it will as a superhero film, but it's still definitely part of the Aquaman world," Wan said.

James Wan’s Next Film Won’t Be 'Aquaman 2'
https://www.cinemablend.com/news/247562 ... -aquaman-2
“I think I kinda know [what I want to direct next] (laughs)… It won’t be Aquaman 2 just yet. I have something else I’m cooking up. I’m not ready to share just yet.”

"Just yet", so Wan hints he probably likely will helm the sequel...

I remember Jon Valera from when he was competing and on covers of martial arts magazines in the mid-late '90s.
