Indeed. A cameo is basically Arnold in EX1, a one short appereance in a scene, and that's it. That's the true meaning of a cameo. Everything longer, with more scenes, becomes a supporting role.

I'm not worried about screentime here. It's not a DTV movie selling itself on Dolph's name, we should be glad he's getting to do scenes with the likes of Willem Dafoe and Patrick Wilson.

What's the problem? He'll come back. This is a really long shoot and scheduling on these big movies can be like that especially for non-leading roles. He can film for another month or two when he gets back and who cares if he doesn't, even if it's for another couple weeks that still would add up for a decent screen time (and I doubt Nicole Kidman or Willem Dafoe will have much more plus the movie will probably run 2h20 or 2h30).
I guess Anthony Hopkins does do a cameo in TRANSFORMERS 12 or 17 (I lost count) but it's likely still an important role for his function in the story if not by screen time (which doesn't matter if done right).

Also, let's remind what a cameo is because the word seems to have lost his meaning among DTV fans lately. A cameo it's a really short appearance (like an extra, except from a famous actor, or one scene max) by a notable personality, not to be confused with a supporting role... Also if the role is really intricate to the story/plot it's not a cameo.

Dolph's recent role as a TV character in WELCOME TO WILLITS is a cameo, but his decisive part in FEMALE FIGHT CLUB is not one. JCVD's walk on appearance in LAST ACTION HERO was a cameo in the true sense of the word, Hitchcock's appearances in his movies were as well.

problem? no problem! i'm just asking about what i don't know! this is forum, right?

and thanks for the replie!

Well, on a movie of this scale, a short amount of shooting days is not scary : ther's always 2,3 or 4 units, filming shots of different actors, with green screens (I guess you save some shooting time with GS). So a few days here (already with Patrick WIlson and Willem Dafoe, for me the most interestings actors of this flick) and some days in september (maybe with Amber Heard*, and Nicole and Jason Momoa), I think we'll get a fair amount of Dolph time, and I think it's better (for him, at least, if not for us) to have 10 mn of Dolph in a spreaded-audience movie by James Wan, than having him 10 mn in a minor action DTV sold solely on his name.

* my theory is that Dolph's character is in fact Mera's father, hence his not good not bad specificities.

It's not a theory, I believe it's already been confirmed

Very nice picture! Glad to see Dolph with not typical people like Sly, Van Damme, Schwarze, Adkins, Jaa, Statham, etc. This company is someting different.

That could explain why Wan said in twitter "Not quite villain"

If Nereus is Mera's father, he will set aside his resentment against Aquaman if she's at risk (if the two vilains of the movie kidnapped her, for example)
