Sly did a good job with Rocky Balboa. That movie didn't feel as a "cartoon" like Rocky IV. So I am confident that Sly know's what he is doing.

Apparently Adonis Creed would be up against Drago's 20 year-old son...

A Finnish boxing promoter tweeted that the producers are scouting all the Nordic countries for 20-25 year old blonde 6 foot 3 boxers for the role of Drago's son.

Here's an article about it in a Finnish newspaper:

https://www.is.fi/nyrkkeily/art-2000005402652.html

So if they're looking for real boxers instead of actors, we could figure the role might not be very big, at least acting wise, and more akin to Dolph's original portrayal of Drago.

I do hope they make it work, and give Dolph a meaningful role, and not just a cameo. And I hope they don't just make it a loose remake of the original Rocky IV.

However I have faith in Sly. He made it work with Rocky Balboa, and Dolph gave in my opinion one of his strongest performances in the first Expendables which Sly also directed. I believe Sly respects Dolph as an actor, and knows his strong points and limits, and he knows the character of Rocky obviously, so this should turn out well.

What will be interesting to see with CREED II is to have Dolph co-starring in a new Stallone movie that isn't an EXPENDABLES entry.

So I really hope that, even though although Drago isn't a new character like Gunnar was in EX1, and he was a stoic, monosyllabic, cold character in ROCKY IV, Sly writes Dolph new facets of an older Drago after three decades passed, with a few opportunities to shine throughout the film.

And I also know Dolph is close enough to Sly that he can voice his opinion if he's not comfortable with some material in the script or if he wants to enhance or improve some aspects...

Amen to that.
There's indeed a lot of things that can be done. The soviet union collapsed since Rocky IV, Sly lost a child (and the last 2 movies are dealing subtly but greatly with father / son relationships), Sly (and in a minor way Dolph) had Career resurgence these last few years, all these elements could benefits Sly's script. (in my opinion)

i always was wondering who would play that role, but after seeing sage's pictere, he's already drago jr. to me. it's not neccassary drago's son being tall and big, if they want to make creed jr. vs. drago jr. thing.

Dolph is on a a 6 weeks training schedule (until new year app.), so I take it it's for Creed 2 (and it's reassuring, he might be a new top of his shape) and it's post-poning Malevolence (a bad for a good as we say in france).
I'm waiting for an official synopsis, but I'm starting to be enthusiastic for this Creed 2 project.

He's also playing a boxer in MALEVOLENCE so that can work for both. Don't think CREED II would start as early as the beginning of January though (they're just beginning casting and on a film like that, a 6 weeks prep would be a bit light)... I'm waiting to hear back from him actually.

do you guys want Drago to be more dramatic (who changes to good) character or do you want the original (bad, brutal) to come back? which Drago would you like more?

I hesitate even posting something like this, but as this continues to make more headlines, I can't help but worry about the future of CREED 2. It will no doubt affect it:
