Having seen it, I can confirm, someone has paid for that rating.
(But I wouldn't be surprised if a heap of studio films didn't do the same given how many mediocre modern films are in the top 250)
Dolph has fun, it's amiable enough, but it feels very roughly put together, even after four years in post.
I also had a prediction prior to watching, that Rob Schneider would go for his Mexican voice and sound twice as Mexican as Danny Trejo. That proved to be true.
I know budget has stretched enough to get a big vocal cast, but can't help but feel Jerry O'Connell would have made a much better lead as the geeky dad in this, rather than voicing a dog. It wasn't a great performance from the guy playing the role and awkward in the wrong way. But yeah, that wouldn't have been feasible on top of D having a major role.
Christmas films can almost get a free pass during the holiday season, so perhaps people just enjoyed it in spite of some flaws.
