Sounds a bit like ’Race to the Scene’ all over again but perhaps more like ’American Ninja Warrior’ or ’American Gladiators’ with this tower set thing and different levels or whatever?
Hopefully this will be better and not quite as goofy.

A british production. Premiering this fall according to Variety. So this Will go in to production soon.

Humm, okay...

I wish his project of a more savvy show with National Geographic had gotten off the ground. If he has to be a TV host, he has so much more to offer (and a need to break his image) than being the action star leading game / competition shows.

Dolph, what can viewers expect from Take The Tower?
“They can expect a lot of action, because it’s based on action movies, fun, comedy and some stress! What’s unique about it in my opinion is it’s based on action movies and the competitors are action fans – and they have to go up against one of the old school ‘action guys’!”

What appealed to you to take part in the show?
“It was a unique concept that suited me pretty well. When I spoke to the director, he wanted to make it light and comedic, which I though was good as I don’t get a lot of chance to do that. I know the Brits are the best comedians – they write very funny comedies, so I thought I’d give it a shot.”

Can you tell us about the missions?
“The missions take place in the tower, finishing off in my penthouse. Expect a different challenge on every level. You’ve got strategic missions, physical tests, and plenty of movie quizzes thrown in. You’ve got friends, family and couples together and it’s completely unpredictable how they will pool their knowledge and work together. It’s fast paced, adrenalin filled and will have you totally glued to your screen.”

In the series, you are challenged against the contestants. Can you tell us about that? How did you fare?
“It was tough for me! I’d just arrived from LA and was jet lagged! I felt the pressure. I had to live up to my image! I think the results were pretty good – I won some, I lost some – and some were very close. If I’d won all of them no one would have won any prizes which would have been sad. The Duel is very quick and based on reaction time and co-ordination. When the contestants first meet me on the show, it’s on camera. They step out of this elevator and there I am, in all my glory in my suit looking bad-ass in my penthouse, staring them down with no emotion, so some of them got a little shaky! On the whole, we got on well and it was all in good humour.”

What qualities do contestants need to scale the tower?
“They have to be very co-ordinated and sharp – it’s a mental, physical co-ordination, eye-hand co- ordination and they had to help each other – they had to be supportive of the team members. In the Duel, it was just being able to relax and trust your reflexes - and not think too much.”

What were your stand out moments from shooting the series?
“I liked some of the opening monologues – they were quite funny and well-written. There was one or two teams where it was heart breaking when the lost when they’d done really well. I beat them at the end – and I felt sorry for them! There was one team I invited to the premiere of Creed 2 – so I guess I will see those guys again soon.”

As an action movie hero, did you learn anything from the series yourself?!
“Being the host of a show is demanding, especially delivering tongue in cheek monologues. It’s not something I do every day. It’s always great to be close to your fans. To do something together with them, to share something – especially some kind of contest. I kind of appreciate my role as an actor and an entertainer to make people feel good. That’s what I have done for years now and it feels nice to get the rewards of it.”

What other projects are you working on at the moment – what’s up next for you?
“I’ve finished two pictures, coming up this year – one is Creed 2, a boxing movie with Sylvester Stallone, a sequel to Creed and to the Rocky series. That’s coming out in November. Then there’s another picture called Aquaman. Right now I’m in Rome, directing a picture, a small movie I’ve wanted to do for many years, a psychological drama.”

Brand new from Twofour – Take The Tower with Dolph Lundgren[/b]

In a city, in a tower, one of Hollywood’s most iconic villains, Dolph Lundgren, has dared wannabe action heroes to take him on…

Brand new to ITV4, Twofour’s Take The Tower (6 x 60’) draws inspiration from classic Hollywood action movies to create a challenge show like no other.

The host, Hollywood action hero Dolph Lundgren of Rocky, Universal Soldier and The Expendables blockbusters as well as upcoming films Aquaman and Creed 2, will challenge members of the public to a combination of physical challenges and quiz questions. This adrenaline packed series will tap into classic movie tropes, requiring toughness, brains and stamina.

It’s high stakes with cash prizes and a luxury holiday up for grabs and the fear of one of the team being ‘pushed off the tower’.

In each episode, Dolph Lundgren challenges a team to a series of games based on classic action movies. We’ll see our teams navigating across a touch sensitive alarmed floor, through steep, slippery vents and out of a malfunctioning lab. They’ll be chained to a malfunctioning boiler system and trapped in an exploding toilet. They’ll be taking paintball bullets from their friends and they’ll be facing Dolph in a shoot out.
They must fight their way up 53 storeys and make it all the way to the Penthouse… alive. But fail a task and there’s only one way down. Through the window…

Take The Tower airs on ITV4, Tuesdays at 9pm from 25th September.

How would you describe Take the Tower?

Dolph Lundgren: “It’s a unique concept based on our favourite action films – like Die Hard, Terminator, Mission Impossible – and the teams taking part are either friends, work colleagues, families. I’m hosting and it’s quite tongue-in-cheek, so I get to do a little comedy. And I take some of these guys on at the end.”

What’s is like appearing as yourself?

DL: “Some people say I’m better off doing this stuff than acting! There’s something to that I guess. I studied engineering, I was a fighter, then an actor – it’s a weird combination! You’d never find a character like that in a film. But it’s easy for me to do and I like it.”

What does it take to win Take the Tower?

DL: “You’ve got to work as a team and help each other. It’s a lot to do with hand-eye co-ordination – especially at the end when I’m involved in a shootout with weapons. I didn’t get a chance to practice – I arrived from LA with jet lag and these guys have been doing this for weeks – so I felt the pressure not to be a total loser!”

What team would you put together to compete on Take the Tower?

DL: “Stallone and Schwarzenegger, some of the guys from The Expendables. Wesley Snipes would be fun, Van Damme is always a riot to be around. Put them together and you’d have a good show for sure! If we won the holiday, I”d take them to Bora Bora.”

What are the most dangerous stunts you’ve done?

DL: “When I did Red Scorpion in the 1980s, I decided to do some of my own stunts – like jumping from a motorcycle on to an armoured personnel carrier at full speed – totally crazy! Also I was followed by some hyenas for a scene in the desert, and one of them ran up and bit me!”
