This is just a "teaser for the trailer" which comes out Thursday.

I'd say for now it looks on par with the first one and I think the expectations should equal whatever one's opinion was on the original film, no more no less...

Rumor has it that despite this first (late) teaser and trailer, Warner has given up on Aquaman.

The trailer looks great. Of course they didn't show Dolph as usual.

James Wan confirms Willem Dafoe won't appear in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
https://ew.com/movies/aquaman-2-willem- ... nt-return/
"Willem is not in this one, no," says Wan, who also directed the 2018 film. "Part of the reason was because his schedule did not work out for us. But what that allowed me to do was expand on Atlanna's role. Atlanna in this one ultimately becomes Arthur's advisor. Because Arthur's not from this world, she helps him better understand the world and the politics of how things work."

I hate this kind of fluff but it's part of the behind the scenes I guess:

Rated PG-13 for sci-fi violence and some language.

On the 2 covers of the new Empire mag
https://www.empireonline.com/movies/new ... -revealed/
In a major new interview, Wan talks Empire through the film’s horror-inflected design touch-points, its unexpected buddy-comedy DNA, Arthur’s new fatherly responsibilities – and the challenges he faced making a DC behemoth while the hierarchy of power on one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises changed before his very eyes. All that, and get ready for plenty of new images and never-before-seen concept art, teasing the visual splendour of this return trip to Atlantis.

I like James Wan as much as the next guy, but I have to admit that his "over enthusiasm" is a bit over the top. I doubt Aquaman will indeed look like a Bava or a Fanju movie  (and I doubt most viewers care about it).
But don't get me wrong, I love that Dolph is part of this "entourage" (Wan, Mendez...) and I hope once he gets back on his feet health-wise he'll some acting gig with Atomic Monster (Wan's company) as a supporting character in a horror movie.

For sure (and even when he quotes films like ROMANCING THE STONE (on the 1st film), you know where he is coming from but that's not what will show off the most in a $200 million movie.

I hope once he gets back on his feet health-wise

He's good now, the scary part was between 2020-2022.

DL's name isn't on the billing block this time, I hope it doesn't reflect his screen time in the finished film...

I'm not suprised he wouldn't make it public. He's one of the few good ones in Hollywood.
