WAR PIGS' heart was in the right place but it's obvious the guys behind these films have access to a lot of old time military props and uniforms and just keep hammering out films that fit that genre.

Credit to savagesketch for first noticing this but they just took Dolph's pic from the WAR PIGS cover art and slapped a hat on him for that image.

Without naming it, Dolph kind of confirmed his attachment to the project...

From Dolph's latest IG stories, it seems he's in Cleveland, Ohio to shoot it on USS Cod submarine...

USS Cod is excited to participate in the production of the film OPERATION SEAWOLF, starring Dolph Lundgren in a few weeks. The WWII-era film has Cod portraying a U-Boat commanded by the veteran actor and former nemesis of Rocky Balboa (Rocky 4). The winter weather will present some problems but our crew loves a challenge! Some of our shipmates will also be background players in the film. Check back for more information about OPERATION SEAWOLF in the days ahead.

The cast and crew of the upcoming film "Operation Seawolf," set to begin shooting aboard USS Cod next week, arrived in town today wearing these fun teeshirts that pay tribute to the unique twist of having Cod portray an enemy U-boat... Das Cod! Veteran actor Dolph Lundgren will be the U-Boat skipper who is sent in a last ditch mission in the closing days of WWII.

The costumes on the cast of "Operation Seawolf" film project really made an impact on the Cod crew... it's like a bunch of survivors from a sunken U-Boat came aboard. Weather poses a problem when ice and snow cover the deck but we're up to the challenge. My personal thanks to the Cod crew on the job despite the cold and early set calls.

"Operation Seawolf" activities aboard Das Cod today were short and ruled by the wicked snow storm that dumped 20-inch snow drifts on our sidewalk and parking lot overnight, stranding several cars and required us to man snowshovels and ultimately call in a snow plow. Meanwhile the film crew shot a critical dramatic scene on the conning tower before departing for other Cleveland shooting locations. Cod crewman Kim Neubauer, hired today to help with hair and makeup, was the first of us to meet the film's star, Dolph Lundgren. The filmmakers will return on Thursday morning for Lundgren's scenes aboard our sub. Let's hope the Lake Erie snow machine is done by then!

Well, Dolph in a period piece ist good news for me, and a submarine-movie can be good if it handles the ambiance correctly. But alas, Steven Luke is no Wolfgang Petersen (das boot), Tony Scott (Crimson Tide or something like that, i don't remember ^^) or David Twohy (the excellent Below), so my hopes are ... contained.
Given his passion for history, I guess Dolph will give a good performance, but overalll, I think it's not gonna be a great movie :( I hope to be wrong.

This might be decent if they can stay away from the dodgy B-movie CGI. Keeping the plot contained and tense and making best use of the location will always trump terrible CGI attempts out-with the budget of the film. Sometimes these things get too ambitious. See the ending for Seagal's Black Dawn, for example. Cross fingers.
